Given that banning people from doing something doesn't stop them

Speeding

Drink driving

Fighting at the footy

Take your pick

So we should be able to drive as fast as we want, get plastered before we drive, and batter people at football matches - without any consequences? You're clearly on a wind up.

I'm saying the ban will make no difference as kids will do it and their parents probably buy them

It'll make no difference

My reference to the other laws is in regard to people having no respect for long existing laws

This is another parallel universe discussion. If we could see the same society without such bans, we could compare directly.

We don't and can't, so we have to use a common sense approach.

That would suggest a ban will be useful. Especially as its only the disposable ones and an alternative exists.

If their parents are buying them disposable vapes (which is a stretch of the imagination), they won't be able to do that any more...

The same parents who are turning a blind eye to their kids vaping?

How's it a stretch of the imagination?

You're suggesting those parents are actively buying them for their kids.

Probably isn't definitely

Re read it all

Kids are obviously vaping

I'm sure the parents know

So what will change?

It will be harder for kids to get hold of them. Simple as that. 🤷‍♂️

if you want to give up smoking, do champix, works a treat

Not anymore - been withdrawn.

I weaned off cigs with vapes. Then went from flavoured to tobacco flavoured to encourage me to give up.

Now enjoy tobacco flavoured vapes. Need motivation / method to wean off the fuckers. Seems to do me more harm in terms of breathlessness and coughing than decades of smoking ever did.

I looked up champix cos I thought I'd give it a go :(

Just had a look

That's a shame as I tried literally every viable option out there and that was the one that did it for me

I know there were question marks about it when it first came out and was suggested it sent folk a bit mental

One side was having the most vivid realistic dreams you've ever had and not always good ones

Was worth it just for that

Ban the disposable ones.

Not just the kids issue, but a significant environmental one too.

Positives do outweigh the negatives.

As said before though, the smoking ban is well intentioned but completely ill-conceived.

Absolutely crackers.

Which part of the smoking ban is completely ill-conceived may one ask?

Surely if you want to keep using a disposable vape, you can just buy a normal vape and then dispose of it?

I don't think this has been thought through!

Yes, though I think someone said before something about proper vape shops flogging them being more likely to be responsible. Presumably your corner shop dude, flogging cheapo disposal shite may not give much of a toss.
