Stop the boats landing in the first place?

Send them straight back instead of sending them to hotels?

And where do we send them back to given anyone who lands lands on our shores asking for asylum has to be processed as as that's the law?

And how do we stop boats from landing?

I'm not being funny but those are quite glib and unrealistic answers.

Also, as I say, the amount of people seeking asylum from boat landings are a relatively small percentage of the immigration issue.

I was being fatecuous.

Of course the issue is massively complex.

But it's going to take something drastic to sort it out imo. Not slow and steady.

One things for certain, offering incentives to people to take more in isn't the answer.

We might have to upset some people to make it stop.

Sorry!

I think we are putting that in place is my rather longwinded point.

Keep letting them in then eh?

Keep allowing the problem to snowball and fill our towns with HMOs and rentals full of them now?

There is a problem and it needs sorting but not above everything else.  Unfortunately it is also going to take time, probably years, for policies and initiatives to work.

Unprecedented global issues have created a crisis with people being displaced from war zones. If Israel stopped bombing Palestine that might help but the same posters who support this are ones most up in arms about increased boat crossings. America leaving Afghanistan in such a dysfunctional way and Assad being overthrown in Syria have also been a factor. Then we have the Ukraine war.

Reform want to frame every issue as immigration related as this plays to their support base. We should be equally appalled at how money has been squandered and all our public services are in such a state whilst executives have been given huge bonuses for failing services.

Not this again. Tell me about the wars in Albania, Vietnam, China, Pakistan, India……shall I go on? How many Palestinians have arrived on boats?

Jesus Christ are we still floating this bollocks narrative?

How many of the thousands of Vietnamese heading over are coming to escape war ffs?

Absolutely mental that people keep peddling this bollocks.

So, again, what is this magic bullet deterrent?

Introduce licencing for barbers shops, nail-bars and car washes

Common sense basically.

Do the fucking obvious stuff that woul put them off, and ignore the bellicose bleating.

Turn them back if necessary, or pick them up and drop them back on the beaches of France.

The French have said we're too soft, so they won't mind.

Id genuinely be interested to see a break down of the numbers by country of those on the boats and all this shacked up in hotels etc

Found this

Here's what AI reckons in answer to the questions (or solutions) that have been posed.

It's a setting so that your phone uses less power.

What did you think about the substance?

My phone has plenty of power without resorting to archaic forms of communication. One charge per day. I’m also trying hard to take my information from human forms.  I also like to shop locally rather than Amazon etc.  (I had to buy a book from Waterstones online as it wasn’t available locally, white pages, black text) It’s being delivered Tuesday.

This doesn't address the argument - it just dismisses the argument based on the fact that they come from an AI as opposed to their merits.

I get that you'd prefer a human source - but these are established facts that can be verified by looking at official documents. Asking AI is just quicker. And it isn't really any different than looking something up on the internet or reading a book (using whatever colour scheme you'd like) and then forming an opinion from it. You still need to use your critical reasoning skills to evaluate the information AI provides.

So setting aside where the information came from, what do you think about the content (and not the source).
