famouswanderer Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Different strengths, zapain are the creme dear la bollocks They are! They have different strengths of codeine in them but the same amount of paracetamol so if you were to take them together you'd likely be OD'ing on paracetamol Quote

MalcolmW Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 By coincidence it is 4 years today since my dentist friend's funeral. One of the stories the priest told about him was that a publican of his acquaintance had a bad toothache but was scared of visiting the dentist. Andy saw him walk up to the surgery, then hesitate and turn away. He grabbed his dentist's kit bag and took a dental nurse with him, followed him back to his pub, pinned him against the wall under the dartboard spotlight, gave him a mouthful of whisky and yanked the tooth out. madthatter Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 (edited) By coincidence it is 4 years today since my dentist friend's funeral. Andy saw him walk up to the surgery, then hesitate and turn away. Not had to have a tooth out, yet, but I've had one filling redone God knows how many times so can only be a matter of time. Think they'd have to put me under. When the last fanny tried taking off my old veneer it took him about 5 minutes, almost had his foot up on the chair he was pulling that hard. Not an experience I'd be wanting again while awake. And yes, that would make me a fanny Edited January 22, 2018 by madthatter Quote
gonzo Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Co-codamol and Naproxen when my hip/back gets bad. Ooooh . . . Not yet had the pleasure of Tramadol - supposed to be rather effective?! tooth ache or ear ache - which is worse? Tramadol are so effective because they're an opiate. Hence their highly addictive properties They make me go all scatty and get 'crawlies' all over my skin when I have em. Can't stand em. But they are the only thing that touched me when I did my ankle. A lot of people fuckin love em. I was offered a bottle of oramorph on dicky lane the other week for the paltry sum of £3. Get rid of your toothache that stuff Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Codeine is also an opiate, though I think less aggressive. Quote
Salford Trotter Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Just after New Year (after playing a game that involved an inflatable doll but that's a different story) i had a twing in my lower back and i thought i was doing myself a favour by going to a chiropractor rather than A&E. After he twisted my limbs into every possible position the following day i was in agony. After being in agony for two days I eventually went to a consultant who intimated the chiropractor had pulled a disc out of place and i had compressed nerves. Prescribed Diazapam, tramodol, Naproxen and Kapain and they barely touched it. This morning i had a caudal epidural which hopefully has eased the pain. No more games with inflatable dolls for me! Dr Faustus Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Ashamed to say it's been a while. My last dentist replaced loads of stuff and the composite wasn't right, caused me loads of agro, so avoided it. The extraction I should've had years ago; when I quit smoking I took up mints. Sugary little bastards in the same spot repeatedly day after day, eroded a molar, which is now a retained root. The root canal is as a result of the dodgy filling previously, and the new fillings are next to this and an old extraction. Quote
bolty58 Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 I fall asleep in the dentists chair without any gas or other form of anaesthetic. Apart from when I was a nipper, always have. Dental narcolepsy? Never understood the fear factor with dentists. Mind you, I am married to a mental dental nurse. Quote
gonzo Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Has dental extractions without any anaesthetic. Doesn't like to talk about it. Nails. Quote
MickyD Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Wife doesn't like the after-numbing of the anaesthetic at the dentist so on the occasions she needs any work done she tells them to just get it done. On the other hand, I'm a soft fucker who would rather they doubled the amount of novocaine. Quote

Not yet had the pleasure of Tramadol - supposed to be rather effective?! tooth ache or ear ache - which is worse? Started with a cough last Thursday. Mon flu has ensued which culminated with an out of hours doc giving me codeine for ear infection (Monday ). Yesterday I started coughing up blood. NHS direct sent an ambulance, a few hours in a&e and told got a bad dose of the lurgy, which has perforated an ear drum and fucked my chest. I can confirm that severe tooth and ear ache are equally twattish, and that codeine works pretty well. Quote

Or did they think it was viral? Quote
