Sluffy
4 hours ago, Romiley White said: No and no for the record, but the court hearing was a pantomime. However, he (Appleton) has since said that their work is now done. The fact that it isn't is, one presumes, down to the hotel. I was on a radio phone-in in January and said of the takeover 'I will believe it when I see it'. This remains the case. Then why has someone else definitely at the court hearing stated in his twitter account of the mornings session - "To clarify, Appleton not in court. Has previously insisted as referenced in court that injunction itself would not impact the sale"? and also - "Judge considering how much an adjournment would impact sale after Appleton insisted it wouldn't" He's either recording the facts, in which case I suggest you might have missed the conversation or he's mixing the reporting of the facts with his own opinions/hearsay/gossip and made a nonsense out of what was actually said and what are Jones personal comments on things. Clearly something was said about it in court - he tweeted and then did a clarification tweet, in respect of some conversation in court that included the judge about the injunction and its impact on the sale. As a cross reference this is what Iles said about it in his blog of the day - "There is a dispute about whether the injunction actually prevents the sale of Burnden Leisure Limited", ...so it certainly would make sense that the judge commented on the Administrators view in this respect - and this would be from Appleton's written submission to him. Perhaps you were in the process of obtaining your seven Tranmere tickets at the time such a discussion was made? Anyway water under the bridge now. We move on. Wanderlust
One of Marc Iles problems is that fans want to know what is happening and they want to know the second it happens, but he's not found a way of managing relationships with the club and the other influencers to get the inside stories i.e. he's not a successful investigative journalist - and with other bits of information and red herrings appearing all over the internet fans are ahead of him a lot of the time. He has long periods of silence too so it seems he doesn't know what's happening - which were accentuated when he fell out with Anderson and his access became even more limited. The other turn off is that he tends to lose objectivity and paint the picture with a bit of a tinge of bitterness which is often interpreted as a reflection on his personal experience with the people involved. Overall I don't think he is currently in a position to be the best person to report on the club. The BN really needs a reporter who has a working relationship with people in and around the club and the kind of access that comes with it - but is able to present objective reporting without getting barred. The club reporter needs to stick to the facts and let readers make of that what they will, but modern reporting increasingly demands that reporters express opinions and that is at the root of the problem. Reporting other people's opinions is fine as long as there's balance.

Its a sad reality though that senior management of BWFC could not trust the Beeno to report objectively or intelligently well before Marc Iles arrived on the scene but his personality and prejudices have undoubtedly made matters a great deal worse. I have no agenda btw and absolutely nothing to gain but I do have a mission to debunk the half-truths and falsehoods that have plagued the club I have supported for 67 years. But I am also realistic enough to know that it is a losing battle and that there are many supporters on WW and elsewhere who prefer virtual ignorance and foolish prejudice and always will. Would Dean Holdsworth have passed the FPP test and Ken Anderson not? In which case BWFC would have gone into administration in March 2016. Or would neither of them have passed the test and we would have gone into administration in March 2016. Would that have been better? Iles is employed by the Bolton news, that’s his full time job, he has a wife and family, he probably gets gets a decent salary, it’s a job many people would love to do, watching/reporting on the club you support, why would he risk losing his job dishing dirt on players/management of BWFC If he upset people within the Club his job would be come untenable, he will know players/ management personally and he will know exactly what’s going on, more than anybody on this forum, but he will have to keep his council The articles that appear in the BN are 24hours out of date by the time it goes on sale His Twitter account is more of his thoughts and opinions but it’s obvious he would not be allowed to say what he knows. The abuse he gets on here, imo, is unwarranted, he’s just another source of reporting that people can use along with Twitter, Forums, hearsay to form an opinion, I suspect most of anti- Iles brigade on here have had a Twitter spat with said journalist and lost, it’s better to have Iles and the BN than not

Not if you were an unsecured creditor or member of BWFC's non-playing staff in March 2016 As opposed to the unsecured creditors of 2018? What would've been better than either course, would've been if the custodians of the club had taken the difficult decisions to bring costs into line with revenues before they sold it on. That wouldn't have been an easy process, but managing that transition to being a club that lived within its means with a realistic hope of survival would've been a far more fitting legacy than the years of misery that BWFC employees, creditors and fans have undergone. At the time of the 2016 financial strife, Eddie wasn't in control of his own money and hs family were running his affairs, hence them turning the tap off and leaving a £2m tax bill unpaid. It was this £2m tax bill that was getting us wound up : the HMRC were the ones taking us to court and you can be pretty sure they weren't going to fund administration. As i have suggested previously, the football bit to them is secondary to the sale which we know but you cant let the core part of the club die and cease to exist whilst charging £000’s to keep other money men happy.
