Sadiq Khan has just said that the NHS are expecting the peak of this to be in a couple of weeks, previously we had been told it would be over the Easter weekend.A Tory minister has pretty much guaranteed the lockdown will be extended from next Monday and i would think it will be extended again if the peak is around 23 April

Over at Old Trafford, Man Utd were due to resume training next week but those plans were cancelled yesterday indefinitely.I don't think they are planning to resume training while the country is in lockdown. They have also stated that if the season is voided or played behind closed doors all ticket holders will be refunded their money.

Poor effort by you that Roger. You're losing your touch.

Bent figures China

Agreed but Zico is spot on that Thailand is really surprising. Given that Chinese tourism accounts for about 15% of total gdp for Thailand. So for them to have such low numbers is surprising.

especially considering they have only just really locked down Bangkok in the last 2 weeks

I would have expected Thailand to be a hot bed of this.

Wasn't there a stat that said the virus mainly kills white blokes over the age of 50?

It obviously got bored of East Asians and prefers the gammon-y flavour of angry Brexit voters and Trump supporters.

Wahay, the chuckle brothers are back in town. 😀

I saw the remaining Chuckle Brother in Tesco the other day but as I approached him he said ' 2 metre, you'.

I'm surprised that you'd want your money back Rog.

yet oddly we have nearly twice as many deaths

looking at the numbers, S America and Africa seem to be "getting away with it" so far

and I'm surprised Thailand is so  low given that's where most Chinese apparently went for New Year

I had a healthy, thin, non-smoker 43 year old mate die of "Pnuemonia" in Thailand 2 weeks ago, had to be cremated and only 3 allowed at the funeral, with masks on.

South America generally locked down early, but I suspect they and Africa will be very slow on the reporting, and the typical flu season in the southern hemisphere is April - Sept.

True - there is a lot of HIV though, there's 8 million with it in South Africa.

aye, I've posted this before, but well worth signing up to view it - shows movement in China and internationally based on mobile phone data

China and parts of Asia just don't add up, given many of the other destinations are getting bummed senseless

yeah, a mate from a long time ago, when I lived near Parbold as a kid - he'd been working in Thailand for a few years. he was into Northern soul, and there's youtube videos of him at Northern Soul nights in Thailand, watched a few the other night, brought a tear to my eyes.

I would have expected Thailand to be a hot bed of this.

I live in Thailand; Pattaya; and not many believe the figures being presented. It is thought that there has been a spike in pneumonia deaths, possibly 3000 above normal. However this is not verifiable and with political leadership from the military the press are limited to what they print and there are no press conferences. Social media is monitored by the state and infingements result in stiff penalties.

Tomorrow Pattaya goes into lockdown for 2 weeks and there is a night time curfew. Also, no air passengers are allowed into Thailand for 2 weeks, including Thais abroad who want to return home. Everyone wears a face mask now, it is compulsory in shops and anywhere else you can still visit.

There are many expats who live here and many on holiday who cannot get out because of airlines cancelling flights. I think some want to stay here rather than go home to countries where the situation seems much more serious.

I honestly do not know what to believe but am acting on the basis of better safe than sorry, as are most. I don't know anyone who knows of someone with the virus and neither does my Thai lady. The local hospitals do not appear to be especially busy, according to anecdotal evidence.

The food delivery company Grab are doing a roaring trade; their motorbike delivery drivers are constantly in and out of my condo complex. Not many other people are doing as well. There is great hardship for millions with only a fraction of the governmental financial support you may obtain in the UK.

If there is any hope, we should remember it was only about 12 weeks ago that we all got wind of what was going on in China. Now they seem to have it beaten.

I hope all goes well for everyone back home. Stay safe and keep washing your hands.

that's where my mate was from - he had a bar just up from the beach called Natalies

Is that the guy from Parbold who died from pneumonia? I don't know that particular bar; there are hundreds if not thousands here.
