936 overall today

Spain's record was 950 and Italy's 969 so we are very much in their territory now

In fact, we need to plateau NOW to stay in line with them. I'm sure there will be people along with alternative facts to dispute this though

We are going to go over their numbers, our population is 10% bigger than Italy so their 969 is our 1065.

Spain have had it worse per population  - their 950 is our 1,330

936 from 786 is a big jump, and probably still got several days growth left!

If we don't see a slow down very very soon, expect the government to take more stringent measures .

don't forget, lockdown only came into force on 23rd March, 15 days ago (when measuring against yesterdays deaths) - the thinking is that lockdown effects start to become evident 2-3 weeks after, so we've got maybe another 5 or 6 days to go for full effect to be seen.

Keep a look at infection rates though. Whilst they're going up, the rate of increase is decreasing.

So long as that continues then the peak will pass and deaths will gradually follow.

How much of that is due to testing though? Haven't seen today's figures, but we tested 9,000 yesterday. When we're doing 100k at the end of the month, presumably we'll find a lot more cases than we are currently.

we got ours yesterday, I didn't even open it, I just chucked it in the recycling  - I'd not even considered people would want to keep them

They're going for £250 on Ebay now

In which case our number of deaths will look a lot less scary when considered against number of infections.

I look at those on here who have had it, maybe half a dozen or so. None of whom have had a test as far as I'm aware (Kent might be an exception). Fingers crossed, in the end we'll see it around that 1% figure.

Nicola Sturgeon just confirmed that today's Scotland figure included a big chunk of backdated suspected coronavirus deaths, where there hasn't been a test but the death certificate shows coronavirus as the cause of death,.

This accounts for some of today's big jump, so although more accurate, it means that the jump today isn't as severe as it appeared initially, which is good in a way.

Labour - It's not enough!!!

to be fair, they're right (if that's what they are actually saying), it's not enough, nowhere near enough, but at least it's slowly moving in the right direction

But it’s our capacity and we sadly don’t live in a world where all our desires are met.

people just need to be realistic about this whole thing now and stop the nonsense
