It just moves the deaths to later date, once lockdown ends it starts up again, only vaccine or herd immunity stops it. Edited April 12, 2020 by Mounts Kipper Quote

When the reality is that it would have only delayed things sadly. The purpose of the Government action is to manage the numbers so the NHS could cope. Say we closed down 2 weeks ago we would now be coming out of it with infections etc dropping. If we then go back to ‘normal’ the infection would start growing again. There is plenty of talk about a second peak. Closing down too early would as I understand it just lead to a bigger second peak. The long term level of infection will not change as at some point the restrictions lift. What the Govt are trying to do us ensure as often as possible when someone gets serious infection there is an ICU bed. Have I got this wrong ?? Maybe the hope is that we will better prepared to test and monitor people down the line as so also manage the infection level down ?? Agree with all of this. For me the government has taken a long term view. When we and other countries come out of lockdown, there will inevitably be an increase in infections. It won’t have disappeared. It’s all about managing it so as not to overwhelm the NHS not eradicating it. In 12 months time, the world will look back and the cock waving and recriminations will begin. Some on here have already started. Quote

Not that I'm into an habit of "criticising" the current lot right now but that "herd immunity" stuff they were coming out with at the start sounded like the biggest pile of dog shit I've ever heard I know nowt though and I'm drinking ferociously 😊 It was a phenomenally shite idea. That’s why they are now pretending it was never an idea. Quote

But there are less infected. If n is the number of people infected by a person, once n drops below 1, then it dies out Quote

The consequences of that for folk don’t bear thinking about they really don’t. I agree 100% with you, we can't just let the economy tank. Ultimately it will be for those running the country to decide where/when the tipping point is. At some point, even if the virus is still here in a big way, we're just going to have to stop lockdown and get back to ensuring we don't enter a massive depression, which could kill even more than the virus ever could /would Quote

Jesus I refuse to make this a contest about who predicted the score. It’s not Super6 and is fucking macabre. You know full well you were scathing in your attitude towards the panic being drummed up in the UK. Ask the lads on here who’ve lost relatives if we should have a count up.
