I could be missing something here, but if the virus follow the trend of Omicron and gets weaker and weaker with each variant then presumably we'll only need the booster jabs for a finite period before the virus dies a natural death anyway?

That is correct. It's what Dr Chris Smith was describing the other day.

He talked about "Russian flu" that was out many years ago. It is now believed that it was actually a coronavirus and it nobbled many, before eventually weakening to become a common cold virus that is no great problem anymore.

Nowadays, we have vaccines that can help us, and avoid the huge death toll that previous pandemics have caused. Eventually, we won't need them, but that's soke way off yet.

Woman I work with’s great gran died last year aged about 107.

Covid killed her off 🙄

One of the first to die of Corona Virus in the North West region was featured on local television news. Son being interviewed saying how it was a shame Covid got him just before his 103rd birthday!

You've left it late for a post of the year contender, and put it much more eloquently than I ever could.

I remember about 6 months into the pandemic - I thought we'd be looking at about 2 years for the vaccine. The fact we've got anything like a functioning society is largely down to that jab.

High praise indeed. I'm just amazed by how quickly (and hard) people have worked to make sure we're functioning as normally as possible. Even 30/40 year ago there is no way we'd have been able to reacted as quickly I believe.

We are incredibly fortunate and we shouldn't forget that.

Just a shame we've got so many people trying to stick a spanner in the works.

And it seems to be getting worse. To be fair - the NHS behavioural scientists have been predicting this for a long time. People get fatigued with it. Which I understand to an extent. We're all fatigued with it. But it's still the best shot (pardon the pun) that we've got at the moment.

I can understand that, and you can't just go round telling people how lucky we are that we're in this position.

It shows how far we have come with medical techniques and health care in such a short space of time that we can be in a position to be so, I guess, blasé about getting a vaccine that almost stops a global pandemic in its tracks and has saved countless lives.

In a way, it's good that people know we are only always a step away away from these illnesses and that people around the world work on this, every day, every year to protect us.

As I say, we should be incredibly grateful of the times we live in.

Grills or too far?

Definitely a 'Pimp 4 Life' tattoo.

I'd prefer a fur coat over a cape.

'Who wears a cape?' was a question on a rerun of Family Fortunes t'other week and unbelievably 'a pimp' wasn't an answer.

I got in an altercation with a real life pimp after that charity match walking home.

He didn't have a big hat nor velvet suit nor chinchilla coat - and no cane, I was unimpressed.

Can't recall how this handbags started I think it was probably him saying 'what you staring at?' and me replying I'll stick your head in the grid...

I think you're right.

So you're going on to play big money.

We asked a hundred people.

Name a bird with a long neck?

Naomi Campbell.

What do you take to the beach?

Turkey.

Name a type of ache?

Fillet of Fish.

Great idea about releasing the data about the number of unvaccinated cases as a percentage of the total admission rate every day.

We're not doing a great job of communicating quite how stark that gap is at the moment!

I'm not sure it makes much difference to he honest. The other day one report had jabbers saying a few had turned out for their first, but not a flood.

Tested positive today

Had it 14/15 months ago and triple jabbed

There goes xmas!

If it's any consolation, my brother came down with it Tuesday, rough and cold. Slept all evening and night. Just called up with their stuff for tomorrow, and apart from sounding like he had a cold, he said he felt fine.

3-4 days and he's pretty well.

Not sure what variety he's got, but I reckon the jabs are making a big difference.

A few hundred die hard anti vaxxers is a decent result for a town like Bolton! Especially if they spread the word.....

In the Isle of Man people are allowed back to work after 4 days with 2 negative LFTs. Omicron is basically a 4/5 day wonder & people are totally clear after 8 days & not 10 like the other variants apparently.

Have you encountered some first ones recently?

I'm intrigued as to what made them change their mind.

Have a look at the comments on Evatt's interview about January signings. One absolute mega tool on there- the vaccine is a hoax you know, all the information is there!

I hope the loon spends tomorrow on his tod, masturbating over his keyboard to pictures of camels in drag.

I did a test this afternoon before dropping a present off at a friends who’s wife’s recovering from cancer treatment. All clear.

The wife just one before the folks come tomorrow. Guess the result ! That’s the turkey in the freezer until New Year’s Day.

She’s had it once and is triple jabbed. Got a sniffle. 🤞she doesn’t get worse.

Funny thing is me and the kids have all been unwell the last couple of weeks and tested negative.
