"that was a petulant kick out".

It was though. Bloody weird, proper park footy. He just decided to kick him, way after the ball, if full view of the ref, no other explanation.

Even if there was history, or Matete had done/said something earlier ... & there's nothing to suggest that ... a very odd thing to do.

He was very fortunate not to see a Red.

I think what brought it on was that Matete & Thomo had a little spell of short passing to each other just before, I don't think they were taking the piss, but he seemed to lose his head after that.....even after the foul , he'd still lost it & was kicking off with anyone.

Certainly deserved a red, & it was quite odd because the ref had been v fussy before that.

Bet on himself to get sent off in whatever minute it was .

Yellows probably just about right IMO. Wouldn’t have been surprised if a red card came out though.

Definite red for me. No attempt to play the ball, and purposefully takes both his legs out. Ridiculous.

Sunday league challenge. It says more about the player. Clogger!

Agreed , been a long time since hacking was allowed.

Two reds for that. One for the foul and one for being a cocky twat afterwards and pushing the same player.

Rules say it was petulant though which lowers the severity.

It reminded me of when I was a kid & we played various versions of 'Jumpers For Goalposts' footie till it was too dark to see. One we named 'Foul'.

This was explained by its name. No gouging, biting, off-the-ball or punching but otherwise wtf. It didn't half speed up your passing & moving. That slice would have fitted it perfectly.

Many moons ago, I played a game locally.

Can't even remember what the sides were- maybe it was a charity do or something.

Anyway, it turns out my headmaster from my primary school was playing for the opposition.

I nicked the ball away from him in our own penalty area.

Next thing, a person-volley from him nearly snapped my ankle.

The twat.

Later learned he was a bit "touchy" with the female teachers.

Double twat.

Fair play to Matete for his attitude. A left hook would have been a disaster.

That all?

The Bolton CEO has come out and said home fans in the lower tiers...

Wanderers make key decision on away fans at Toughsheet Stadium this season

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed where they plan to house away supporters at the Toughsheet Stadium in the 2024/25 campaign.
www.theboltonnews.co.uk www.theboltonnews.co.uk

Seems like the max allocation is 2100 ish.

So they're breaking EFL rules then. Clubs should give 10% unless you have a valid reason not to, like building work going on etc.

Quote

Actually, just checked and I think they can get away with it as long as we get 2000+.

Quote

Disappointing, can understand it from there point. The majority of games in this league, 2100 will be more than enough for most away allocations. Unfortunately for us it will nowhere be near enough.

Quote

I guess that's why they call it the Toughsheet.

Quote

It’s 2,000 or 10% of capacity if it’s lower than 2,000.

Quote

They have an impressive sounding Fanzone....

*lots and lots of posts about a lack of a loyalty scheme for away tickets...* sounds familiar...

Quote

Only 2,167 away tickets seems a bit low given the stadium capacity? Are we looking at another allocation being made available later or so you reckon they are expecting a big home crowd?

Quote

Loyalty schemes are unfair. It makes it elitist that people who can afford to go to lots of away games take priority over people that can only go occasionally. The current system makes it possible for all to go to the odd away game. Lots our away supporters who would be rewarded with a loyalty scheme would not cross the road to watch us if it was free entry prior to R+R.

Quote

I’m surprised for 30 quid they haven’t offered access to a fan zone as well - or is it just Wrexham that offers such luxury?

Quote
Is it likely Bolton will release anymore tickets?

You get seats in a far superior ground in fairness and decent concourse where you don't have to queue from the 35th minute to get a beer at half time.

It isn't right but yeah.

Quote

I’ve never been to the Reebok stadium, but it looks a decent stadium when I’ve driven past.

Would some of our older fans call this a soulless new ground? Or is it better than that?

It’s far easier to accommodate decent concourses and modern facilities in a relatively young stadium. We are hugely restricted for space in all of our concourses and this will always cause issue when at capacity - regardless how many servers we have behind the bars.

It's an excellent stadium.

Quote

The Reebok will open a few eyes in terms of making us realise that some out of town stadiums are really rather good

Quote

I have been to the Reebok a few times. I wouldn’t call it a soulless ground. Stadium is good and concourse is very good. Plenty of parking. But not for me. I think there is 1 pub outside the ground maybe some a bit further. If our owners look at this and think that is what we need I would be disappointed. Can’t wait to finally go and watch Wrexham there.

Quote

Never been the Reebok but looks a class stadium and seems easy to get to by all forms of transport. Certainly in a different bracket to some of the soulless grounds built over the last 20 years.

Quote

I had a season ticket at Bolton for a few seasons when I lived there and they were in the Premiership, at the same time I had season tickets at Wrexham. The atmosphere and match experience between 26,000 at The Reebok and 3,000 at The Racecourse was worlds apart, not in Wrexham’s favour. The Toughsheet Stadium will be the best stadium we have visited in the League for many years, I’ve waited years for this fixture and it will be good to go back on an equal footing.

Bolton biggest crowd last season was against Portsmouth 25700 so looks like this fixture could very well beat that. Just shows the pulling power we have

Its the first home game of the season. Think it's more to do with Bolton than us on this occasion.

Possibly but last season there first home game attendance was 20143 so that figure has already been beaten and still another 3 weeks to sell more tickets

Well they had 20,143 at home to Lincoln first day last season, so it's about us if it's over 25,000

Probably more to do with making the play off final last season and expecting to kick on again this year.

*in response to Wanderlust*

Just been having a quick mooch on your forum...jeez your lot don't like us one bit do they? Some real snide, nasty comments on there.... 😲

Quote

Just looked at that thread on your forum. Some of the hate is jaw dropping. Then there's the usual drivel about when Ryan Reynolds gets bored and bubbles burst etc.

I think we might get spanked on Sunday though. Just got a bad feeling about it.

Quote

I found that Bolton forum I was on about earlier in this thread.

The theme's shifted slightly...I've just been laughing at some of the comments on there re: Wxm & Wales in general, and esp how we all take part in that old chestnut of changing from speaking english to welsh 'whenever an english accent is heard', lol...

Your man 'Cheese' is saying what a load of crud it is, tbf to him. Now I'm not saying it's never happened anywhere in wales, but like he says, not around here it won't!

One poster reckons he was in a pub in Johnstown and when he ordered at the bar, "everyone" around him started speaking welsh! 🤣🤣

There just aren't enough welsh speakers in & around Wxm for that to happen collectively!

Quote

Some sad bastards on there. Hope we batter them now, McClean gets a hat trick and celebrates by wiping his arse with a Bolton scarf.

Quote

It will probably be the biggest crowd Bolton will get this season....Bigger than their local derby's..What a pull little old Wrexham have

Quote
First home game of the season, nice weather hopefully, and a bunch of new signings being shoehorned into a new team with regulars being sidelined by injury so there's a lot of interest. Bear in mind we have around 17k ST holders....

There's some ace comments on your forum fair do's. Been laughing at your lot's proficiency in the welsh language 🤣 ...couldn't be arsed signing up and all that palava (wish there was a one-for-all footie forums sign-in option, and any fcukin about/abuse etc and your out on your ear!)... but there's some decent posters on there tbf... 😉👍

The one about Wrexham being a bigger crowd than our local derby's 🤣

Yeah your probably right pal, our current 'local derby' is an even more extreme example of a Johnny come lately nuevo riche arriveste set up than your mob.

With apologies to @gonzo and @paulhanley and one other two others more focused on the coast than the egg chasers

Seem quite balanced. Fair fucks. It’s a good story. Tomorrow just get the points and don’t let us down Bolton. Despite all the hype, this is a win on paper. Let’s see.

They looked pretty well balanced till Lusty bowled in and directed them to this mad house.

If it goes off today I hope he gets nicked for inciting it.
