Ani Posted October 27 Posted October 27 The corner was given at just over 96mins, their captain complained and the ref pointed at the lad who went down 'injured' after 90 minutes. The pen is blatant but so was the one 5 minutes earlier when linesman just ignored it. Lolos does not handle it either. Course they will be pissed off but all 3 calls by the ref were right IMO. Quote
Johnnyrotten Posted October 27 Posted October 27 The 'extra' injury time was fully justified. One thing I'd never complain about if we lost a game in about the 100th minute is that the ref played too long. They never, ever add on enough time to make up for all the stoppages and delays (deliberate or otherwise). Both teams are allowed to score in injury time, we managed it because we were doing all the attacking. There will be games when we are hanging on at the death and if we concede I hope we never moan about how long was played, just defend for as long as you have to. Anyway, is 99th minute our latest ever winning goal at this stadium? A nice reward for those of us that stayed to the bitter end, finally! If I'm not mistaken its 2 years to the week since our last late decisive goal here (v Burton). Can't remember the last one on a Saturday. Quote

When the 6 minutes went up Peterborough made a sub. Obviously in no rush to get off the pitch this added about 40 seconds on to the 6 extra minutes. Let's round it up to 1 minute. If they hadn't have made the sub they wouldn't have lost. Simples. Quote

V Shrewsbury, the ref did not play the minimum time despite 2 or 3 delays after 90. So IE headbutted someone. Refs know not to mess now. 😎 Quote
Not in Crawley Posted October 28 Posted October 28 19 hours ago, Dr. Feelgood said: Oh, you youngsters. With six seconds of stoppage time played Welsh referee Clive Thomas whistled for full-time a moment before Brazil scored. His decision reverberated around the world and he was never to officiate at another World Cup Finals. 1978 World Cup. Admittedly a long time ago. These days I think, quite rightly, 'a phase' of play is allowed to end before blowing. Better version of it Quote
Dr. Feelgood Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Thomas was one of the worst type of referees. Those who feel they are part of the offering. He adored controversy. He was involved in another controversy refereeing the 1977 FA Cup semi-final between Everton & Liverpool. At 2–2 in the closing stages, Thomas dubiously disallowed what should have been the winning goal from Everton's Bryan Hamilton for handball. Quote
