  • Because when they refund people, they give them a discount off the next booking and people are too fucking stupid to realise they're having the piss taken from them. It's a bit like the Tory hand

I may have already mentioned on WW several times over the last few years that TUI are a shower of shit and that you shouldn't book with them.

As for Jet2, different barrel of fish : they've been excellent, but don't book with them, as they won't beat me on price and/or service 😉

How are the security queues at Manchester at the moment?

Assume it's still the case that if you just have hand luggage you jump straight to security or is it one big queue for everyone?

The issues over the last few weeks seem to be the queues to check in bags. I know security was fucked not long ago, but is that still the case or is a little easier?

Will be good to hear from someone who has been through recently.

Flight is first thing so will be peak time.

I'm only coming back with TUI, which is fine by me as I'm not that arsed about getting back.

Check in is machines requiring people to do it themselves. Obviously the public being unable to do tesco self checkout means check in is fucked.

security was ok. About 40 minutes but always moving etc.

biggest thing of note is people trying to check in for 9pm flights at 3 etc. massively holding it up when they queue to be fucked off at the check in

Flying with Ryanair from T3 on 24th

No day before bag drop but will get there 3 hours before and booked us into the escape lounge thing, £150 for 3 adults and 1 kid!

Can't believe we're in with Tui. Hopefully they can handle 4 flights a day from Cardiff outside school holidays.

Still cheaper than what you’d pay in the normal concourse if you didn’t bother with the lounge. Won’t do it any other way. If your timings manage to cover the changeover between breakfast and dinner then even better.

40 quid each?

How the fuck do folk spend 40 quid in 90 minutes?

Worth it long haul as you have to be there earlier anyway. However this current shitstorm at Manchester airport means nothing is a given.

Granted, but im guessing you cant sit there for 8 hours?

Nope, 3 hours usually

Prob cos im comparing with us

At most we have an hour and its get a meal deal for the plane and maybe a coffee

Im not really a pre flight drinker

Don’t think we’ve paid more than £28ish for the lounge but you can clear £25 with a breakfast, a brew and two pints. Plus it’s just infinitely more relaxed than the main areas.

Same

I went in the lounge once and it was pretty shit

We will get there 3 hours before as that's earliest we can rock up with bags

With a little one in tow I don't fancy the main area having heard it's pretty much rammed all the time at the moment

Food and a couple of drinks and hopefully a bit chilled, all good, hopefully

Under normal circumstances i wouldn't bother

Current grumble we're hearing is folk pre-booking lounge at £25 a pop etc and not being able to use the by the time they've checked in and cleared security.

Came through T2 on Friday (start of half term) it took 40 mins to clear bag drop & security, but our problems started after that (Tui shitshow)

I would highly recommend pre booking a lounge, because the rest of T2 was absolute mayhem with most food outlets closed, or a 1 hour wait to get inside The Bridgewater then another 30 min queue to order food and drink.

Although in our case we ended up with a 32 hour delay, so booking a lounge would have only covered the first 3 hours.

32 hours in the lounge sound ace tbf :D

From hearing peoples accounts & reading the news it seems like pot luck at any airport

I’m hoping I didn’t use all my luck up on the journey here.

I honestly cannot tell you how quick, smooth and hassle free it all was.

Im now expecting the return journey to take me 56 hours, the plane to do 3 emergency landings and end up in Aberdeen with no luggage.

Yeah once that last day at work is done it’s meant to be kickback time…

We are the same. Not arsed whether we eat/drink enough to get value for money, just nice to be away from the peasants
