Jet2 use their own staff for check-in, gate checks and ground staff.
Most others use Swissport who are dogshit.

Jet2 have more staff than they actually need, the others don't have enough.

Problems at security are because they were all on zero hours contracts, so were offered shite money at furlough. They quickly realised working in the nearby Amazon warehouse paid more, they weren't drink/drugs/security checked every time they clocked on and didn't have to spend 8hrs a day being growled at by some cunt off a Moston council estate, losing his shit because baby Chantelle really needs that litre bottle of full sugar coke.

Airports have strugglked to recruit enough people quickly enough, because (a) it's an unappealing job and (b) the hoops candidates have to jump through are numerous.

Discussing this subject on the box the other day; various departments with huge backlogs because they don't want to go back to the office. Don't get it; go back or get sacked, surely.

As for the airlines- if they haven't got the staff, for whatever reason, don't put flights on that you can't fulfil.

This is what I don't get, surely as an airline you know if you can or cannot staff a flight? Don't wait until folk are at the airport or even worse at the boarding gate before suddenly realising you have no staff.

In some cases, it MIGHT  be a shortage of air crew, which isnt completely predictable

Like truck drivers etc, pilots can only work so many hours.

If they've arrived in Manchester late and trhen Swissport have taken forever to unload / reload and they miss ATC slots, there's a danger that they'll end up over their hours if they fly to the intended destination.

I see the Jet2 boss is very unhappy and their company seems to have been one of if not the best prepared. Get this, he blames Brexit! Who'd have thunk it!

We fly from Leeds at 6:10 next week . There are 4 jet 2 flights within 20 mins of each other which is busy for an airport size of Leeds. Apparently it is chaos early doors as people are turning up early but a real doddle later in the day.
