But irrelevant. I heard a legal explanation by a barrister. As much as it fucking stinks, the alternative could have been the pilot refusing to take him, and booting him off the plane. Subsequently, there would have been appeals etc; loads of legal arguments and huge costs. The usual shite. The sooner these ridiculous laws are cast out the better. Quote

Aye, 500 quid probably the hourly rate for a barrister. Quote

It just sounds like someone made a pragmatic decision somewhere. Can you imagine the shit storm if he had kicked off and grounded the flight? Over £500? And then had to be kept here for months while we went through the legal processes, and a passenger plane full of people missed out on their plans? It's shit. The loophole needs closing or the authorities need more powers. But I think most of us would have made a similar decision given the circumstances, wouldn't we? Quote

It'll be a hundred practical, quite boring things like this that I think will get us where we want to be. As opposed to some big, headline grabbing policy which magically reverses everything. It's going to take time though! Quote

Then, as a matter of procedure I would make the fkkr wear a parachute and spend the flight watching "how to use a parachute" films. I would have told him "any ad dabs from you and the plane will descend to 8,000 feet and you'll be kicked out and you'll have to walk, rest assured you won't be thrown out over water as we're not complete bastards" I know from experience, wearing a parachute in a plane does focus the mind somewhat and I guarantee he would have sat there as good as gold white knuckling all of the way (even if the parachute was a dummy) with the paras grinning and pointing at his rip cord. I was offered a job doing this about 3 years ago. I would describe myself as a handsome former Royal marine though. Anyway sent off my application and I was invited for an interview. I asked about the ROP as it wasn’t on the advertisement, “we can discuss that at the interview” sorry pal but I’m not paying for a return to London to go for an interview for a job that I don’t know what it’s paying. Anyway after a bit of digging it turns out they were paying £13.5 for 12 hours shifts and £16 after. Accom will be sorted on the day depending where you are but it was capped at £65 a night 😂 needless to say I fucked it off. This is similar to the rates being paid to the security lads at the hotels now. The companies with the contracts are making ridiculous profits. Quote

Explains the lurch to the fringe on both sides of the spectrum. The centre-right has done nothing to improve life for the man and woman on the street for the around 15 years they had in charge. Labour got in on the back of 'surely they can't be any worse' so far they seem to be carrying on exactly where the Tories left off. People are pissed off in general with the way the country is being run. The difference come with who to blame for that. Quote
