Smiley
Googled it without success. What times and days is the M60 closed around the Bolton-Trafford Centre area in the coming weeks? Edited August 7, 2017 by Smiley
Guest
Probably on the same days as there is no train from Bolton

dave2980
http://roads.highways.gov.uk/projects/m60-junction-8-to-m62-junction-20-2/ Under the planned roadworks section at the bottom it suggests clockwise is closed overnight from 11th - 16th
Site Supporter MickyD Posted August 7, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted August 7, 2017 whites4eva (posts on here occasionally) works for one of our local Borough Highways Departments and used to sit in on the TfGM M60 Smart Motorway meetings with me every month. Maybe he still does and could update us as he gets updated. (I'll message him and make him aware of this thread) The contractors only warn about a week in advance though so long term planning isn't an option. Are you planning to travel on this motorway between 22.00 and 06.00 when the roadworks are being carried out? To my knowledge, and admittedly I have had no dealings for 14 or 15 moths, they couldn't work beyond 06.00. From your place I'd look here and adjust your route accordingly. Smiley
Looks like 8.30 in the evenings this week.
Site Supporter MickyD Posted August 7, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted August 7, 2017 8.30 should be fine. If it's anything like it was 15 months ago they close the slips on and off at 22.00 except J9 and J10 which they left until 23.00 because of Trafford Centre shoppers and staff. Moderators Carlos Posted August 7, 2017 Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2017 When it opens it had better be fucking brilliant, for the years of shit it has caused. I suspect not and you'll still be queueing up the M602 to get out of Manc and back up to the A666 to get in.

Site Supporter MickyD Posted August 7, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted August 7, 2017 I'm more and more convinced that it's all a government ruse to get folk off the dole queue. Spend billions of ££££ to create jobs on a project that won't actually improve things

birch-chorley
I think the work tends to pay off in the end The section on the M6 just north of brum is now much better for the extra lane and smart motorway Only issue now is that they are doing the next section along which will be on until 2019 M42 seems to be much better for it as well
gonzo
M6 southbound at thelwall is currently gridlocked. JSL

They do tend to flow better when done. The downside is when there is nothing on the road and they chuck up a 50 for no reason. The cameras do work too from personal experience ???? whites4eva
Googled it without success. What times and days is the M60 closed around the Bolton-Trafford Centre area in the coming weeks? There are some closures near Barton Bridge this week, from junction 8-12 usually they put the closures on at 10 As Mick D will vouch the Trafford Centre rule the roost ???? More details can be found on the Manchester Smart Motorways Facebook it's usually the most uptodat and accurate https://www.facebook.com/smartmotorwaysmanchester/posts/1282844595176956 Edited August 7, 2017 by whites4eva

Site Supporter victor meldrew Posted August 7, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted August 7, 2017 it should have been finished "summer 2017", no chance. it only works until someone crashes or brakes down, which is every day. it is not like the m42 or m62 ,leeds, there are too many junctions ,with large amounts of traffic entering the motorway. complete waste of money. they should improve the railways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And unlike the m42 or M6 they aren't adding any additional lanes on the M60. The only bit that will get an extra lane from the hard shoulder is on the M62 from the M66 to junction 20 for Rochdale. worthy10
The years of delays on the roadworks on M60 must cost tens of millions of pounds for the commuters and passengers. Not to mention the damage to the environment with extra use of fuel and exhaust fumes. And still it goes on. How good can it ever be to make it worth It! Pissed me off! Mike Hunt
I read somewhere recently that research showed it was no better at all Can't remember the source mind Hard to judge I'd guess as they added more roadworks after completion. Avoid M6 M5 junction at all costs at the minute, in fact avoid M6 at all cost.

Nobster
Ive been using the toll road to avoid the M6 M5 junction as its getting worse since the smart motorway was introduced.
