  1. My mates are over in Africa again having taken a load of football kits, boots, training kits and blankets to the Donkey Sanctuary in Marakesh, they are currently in Oumnas near the Atlas mountains, south of Marakesh, lots of people still living in tents following the earthquake, they are heading for the Mauritania border and hope to cross tomorrow. The first picture are the ones sent by Zico and the fellas wearing them are the coaches of the kids teams, BWFC also gave a lot of stuff again.

  9. Between 4 recent LWBs - Williams, John, Beck, Ashworth - I'm not sure any of them could be called strong defensively or physically. Iredale the only exception arguably, but the wing backs on right or left aren't signed to be strong or physical.

  11. Couldn't agree more. Not sure why there's any focus on goals scored and conceded, or number of clean sheets. Irrelevant unless we're overly concerned with goal difference. Points the only thing that matters. Those 7 goals v Exeter were great entertainment, but just one at Oxford would have been an extra 2 points. And that's coming from someone that likes a good stat, but always in the knowledge that its only the position in the league that counts, everything else is just chat.

  12. Quite. The odd longer one to keep your opponent guessing. Had a feeling that not both of our near rivals would win.

  21. I viewed only so far on this thread and pinched ideas for you good people. So my story. My weight was generally okay around 12 and a half stone which I was happy with but during covid a combination of working from home and eating shit food I ballooned to 16st 2lb. My regular blood tests raised the issue of my cholesterol being dangerously high and this was discussed with my GP. She wanted me to start taking statins but as you are then on them for life it wasn’t something I was too keen on. The alternative was to eat healthier and exercise more, I can’t go running as I have a dodgy knee, but I can get more steps in so this is what I did. I started my healthy diet on 10th January 2023 and so my weight is now down to 13st 6lb but I want to get back to 12st 6lb by the summer. Ive learnt to love salads again, don’t miss the takeaways and have drunk less than 3 bottles of red wine since I started. I do still like a drink but it’s now G&T with slimline tonic. I also have 2 days a month off my healthier eating were I might eat got out for a meal or have a few beers and a pie at the match. Thanks for reading and if I can do it, I have no willpower whatsoever then anyone can.

  22. Correct. We're top of the league on ppg, I don't care who we've played and who we've yet to play. We're capable of winning every game we play in.

  28. Don't think he scored a goal in open play after his England debut, maybe a couple of penalties, until a goal against West ham in December then a couple v Newcastle and then got sold

  32. I did, and it was. I’m not going into it all again - Eddie was a saint, some will choose to believe some conspiracy theory about tax losses etc. but the short version is, we lost a hell of lot of money, mainly post Allardyce, there was no other avenue that money came in to cover those losses (bank loans etc.) and seeing as we didn’t go bump, cash was coming in to cover it. Eddie was the source of the cash, loaning it from his other companies, yes there was interest charged on some of the early loans (probably in the hope that he’d one day get it back when some rich Arab bought us) but it only accounted for about £35m of the overall £175m of loans. It ended badly because he had to turn the tap off at some point, he gave Freedman 2 years to get us up, otherwise he couldn’t / wouldn’t sustain the £20m a year losses. We didn’t go up and the rest is history - he still managed to add one further heroic deed by writing off his final £5m to get the deal done, days before he died. Unfortunately, because of the way it ended (he was just signing the cheques - it was others that were running us so badly), he will never be fully accepted as the hero that he was. He did more for us than anyone else in my lifetime (I am a relative young’n compared to you lot) than anyone else has.

  33. Your last paragraph- no one has said anything contrary to it. As for the exact amount ED put in; frankly I don't care if it was £180m or £140m. It was a lot.

  38. Can't even believe Promotion Vs FA Cup Win is a debate. Of course, for the club and its finances, promotion would be the chosen option. ... but why do we follow a team? Ultimately it's to see them win stuff isn't it? We've all seen plenty of promotions in our time and, of course, they are brilliant ... but how much more brillianter would it be to see us lift the FA Cup at Wembley, for the first time since Sir Nat raised that trophy.
