BeeversLeftPeg Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago So dust settled on what has been a bizarre season in so many ways, ended up culminating in promotion out of this godforsaken league. Obviously most people are going to point to the playoffs as highlight (both away at Bradford and Wembley) but in the regular league season what where your highlights / favourite moments? I cannot remember a season for as many late goals and some of the wild celebrations and limbs have been fantastic. Coupled with wins against the odds, winning derby games and some of the goals scored it's actual quite a tough choice. Quote
L/H White Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago yeah all the late goals for me, some great scenes posh away the absolute low Quote

Ani Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Highlights : Wycombe Home - Huddersfield Away Lowlights : Peterborough Away - Bradford play off tickets. Northampton and Burton Away. Shit I forgot Port Vale and Doncaster and Rotherham aways . Edited 8 hours ago by Ani Quote
Piemon Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Sheehans goal at Wigan was a turning point in the season. (great celebration too) ACD last gasp winner vs Cardiff at the time felt big. Defeats at Northampton and Port Vale low points which had me starting to doubt if Schuey was the man for the job. Bring on next season. Quote
freds dad Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Highlight - the smash and grab at Huddersfield Lowlight - Port Vale away Quote
Marc505 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Highlights - the entire play off campaign. All 3 days and nights were just ace. Other than that, Wigan winner was top. Had some superb awaydays this season, probably goes down as one of my favourite seasons ever this. Huddersfield looked immense, even if I did only see it on telly. (At least I saw it and didnt leave early 👀) Lowlights - Peterborough away (the result, but was a good day otherwise as usual there), Swindon was a bad day all round, and then probably the lowest point was Port Vale. I still had faith after that, but it was open season for a couple of mates who have been neg all year. Clueless, lost the dressing room, doesnt know what hes doing, get rid tonight... All in all, in years to come this season will be looked at in the same way as that 92/93 Roadrunner goals compilation was: legendary. Quote
desperado Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Loved it. But the Play-Offs were the maker or breaker, let’s be honest. Without them the ones below wouldn’t have been as special. But looking back now I can wallow in the good times this season! 6/ Nam-Ploy gatherings for home Games. Stand-outs, Wigan and Bradford Play- Off (that 8pm Saturday was a belter) 5/ Late Goals. Best season ever for these. Stand-outs. Huddersfield, Cardiff and Wycombe 4/ Wigan - Not just the Wigan factor, but came at an emotional time with my big lad in hospital 3/ Plymouth away - Such a good weekend and great result/atmosphere 2/ Bradford Away - One of not the best away followings I’ve ever witnessed and what a celebration for the goal 1/ Wembley Quote
Johnnyrotten Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Just on the play offs, Wembley obviously number 1 by a mile, and those at Bradford had a memorable night. But the home leg was something else in that unlike the other 2 this was at our home, and the atmosphere was absolutely outstanding. When ACD scored it was right up there in the all time celebrations in that moment and for the next few minutes, under the lights as well, that can't quite be replicated with 2k in another (inferior) ground. Barnsley play off was good but there wasn't one individual goal/moment that felt quite as pivotal. Quote

BeeversLeftPeg Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago Big shout for that Ibby goal at home to Huddersfield in addition to the above. It's been a mad season in there have been so many incredible 'moments' (Hudds H & A, Wycombe comeback, ACD v Cardiff, ACD v Orient, Dalby's overhead) never mind all the other late goals we scored. In terms of favourite game I would throw the 4-1 at home to Wigan. Panning them after so many years of garbage at home was special. Bradford both games were top away followings but that playoff game was as good an away end as I've ever been in or seen. Kids already asking how many aways we can do next year... Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Such an odd season. So many high points, but the season was peppered with some proper grim performances. Peterborough wasn’t pleasant but Port Vale was the absolute pits. Swindon was saved by being the best night out of the season 🤣 Donny away just so poor, Stevenage away just dull as fuck, Rotherham probably the worst 45 minutes followed by one of the best. Only missed two away games and thankfully they were both defeats at Northampton and Cardiff. Wigan away and Huddersfield away naturally up there. Wycombe at home unreal for 10 minutes with the rest more similar to Rotherham away! Plymouth away my favourite of the league campaign, proper backs to the wall performance. We really should have been challenging Cardiff for second but left ourselves too much to do. Bradford gave us some real good games over the season and the home play off is up there with the best nights at the Reebok, and I genuinely think we got promoted as soon as the goal went in at Valley Parade. The final was a lot like the Papa John’s that it just went an absolute dream on all fronts. No point dwelling on the bad ones when the ending was so good. Quote

On late goal scenes as well, I feel like we went through years of not really having much of them at all in late PL, championship days. For a long time that Birmingham goal at ours was all we had to talk about 😃 We've been spoilt the last few years though, big time. Quote
onefinfrandsen Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago So many highs, winning at Wembley and the emotion of it all, seeing my lads celebrating with such joy. Watching Sharon celebrating with the supporters brought a tear to the eye. Wigan at home when we scored the first, long time since I’ve celebrated a goal with such joy. Quote

Although not a winner/equaliser it felt quite fitting this season that our final goal of the campaign was in injury time. And we scored on every day of the week to boot this season - surely not something we've done before? Quote
bolton va va Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago A strange season of absolute contrasts with several dire away performances, P/boro, Vale, Cardiff, Swindon, Northampton.............when it was sometimes hard to keep the faith, but against that, all the late goals at home, outstanding aways at Huddersfield & Plymouth, & then the play off games, the tremendous atmosphere v Bradford at home & even better in the away end 2nd leg & lastly Wembley....probably my favourite ever Wembley/Cardiff game !!! Despite the low points, I don't think i've ever had a season of so many highs......if I had to pick one, I'd go for Simons' goal at Bradford & the celebrations that followed it. Quote
paulhanley Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Highs. 1. Wembley 2. The double over the pie-shaggers 3. The late shows v Huddersfield home and away; Wycombe at home and Cardiff at home. Lows 1. Port Vale (a) 2. Only drawing twice with Blackpool when we should have won the pair of them, especially the away fixture. 3. That run of drab winless games after Boxing Day up to the win in pie-land in mid Jan. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 3 goals so late against Wycombe. 2 down with time virtually out. Not breathing a sigh of relief at 2-2 and taking the point. Doubt we'll repeat that again in my lifetime. Quote
Ani Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Maybe my favourite incident of the season was Dalbys equaliser at Huddersfield and his reaction was to get the ball to try and win the game. Quote

Can't argue with that. One of the pleasing factors with all our late equalisers (except those in about the 100th minute) was that we hardly celebrated any of them - we got the ball and tried to score a winner. Eg at Barnsley, Blackpool, Reading, Rotherham, Doncaster, Lincoln, I don't remember any knee slides, shirts off, into the crowd, it was all just about going for another goal. Quote
