Jiminiho.3 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 People call Megson, but glad we don't have a guy who picks complete reserves against the top 4 like McCarthy tonight, just because they're playing Burnley on Sat. This their team, 10 changes from weekend! Wolves: Hahnemann, Zubar, Mancienne, Elokobi, Hill, Halford, Foley, Castillo, Friend, Surman, Maierhofer. Subs: Hennessey, Henry, Ebanks-Blake, Jones, Berra, Jarvis, Iwelumo

Smiffs Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Prem football is what its all about etc, the pinnacle of most players career. 2 back to back wins and their team will be up and buzzing. Then your boss tells you to sit at home because he's sending the kids to Old Trafford but wants you to bust your bollocks against Burnley. I'd have fucking lamped him.
Jiminiho.3 Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 On one hand good for us, if they aren't even hoping or trying to nick even a point. Just seems a bit immoral, probably had a few thousand fans there (though they are cnuts along with the home ones) and going to write it off from the start. Also even though you're a lesser team, have a go I'd think, they played a proper team on Sat and won at Spurs.
Carlos Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Mancienne is better than most of our CBs JSL.
no balls Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I'd have wanted my money back for tonight if I was a Wolves fan & there were a few phoning five live with that opinion.
Jiminiho.3 Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 Mancienne is better than most of our CBs JSL. Always looked pretty average to me, never gets in their first team before Craddock/Berra who arent great

Jiminiho.3 Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 from what I know of Wolves that really was the worst team that they could put out, apart from putting the tea lady and cleaners in a shirt
Whites man Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Sounds like a line up from Star Wars' Cantina Bar. Nerd alert
Traf Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I didnt think about that. 5000 of them there too according to 5Live. Excellent decision by Mcarthy. I think 5 live were telling porkies. United never give any visiting team 5,000 tickets: 2,300 is about the most they give. As an aside: over 3,000 empty seats at Old Trafford tonight. (Don't mention the 10,000 at the Reebok!)
BWFC = Priceless Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Its common sense, he had to look at it and think there's no chance of us getting anything here, they beat our 1st team with their kids in the Carling cup so what is the point fielding a "full strength" team when there is a massive chance of one of the players getting injured and being out over the Christmas period. Have to look at it long term and don't forget we were in the same position with the uefa cup because our main priority was the premiership games.

mannyroad58 Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Is they not some rule against doing this Section E, paragraph 20 of the Premier League's handbook states: "In every League match each participating club shall field a full-strength team." A fine - or even the deduction of points - is within the powers of the Premier League.

Casino Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 mccarthys response would be 'all my players were fcuked after chasing some bankrolled london tossers off the pitch on saturday...as such i thought playing some fresh legs gave me my best chance of getting something...also, if we'd looked like getting owt, the ref would've shafted us anyway, so whats the point'
athywhite1958 Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 It is one of the things that is wrong about football and pisses me off, this is one of the reasons I do not go anymore, it is morally wrong, IMO you play your best team to win in any game and deal with any injuries / changes for the next game, it's football not fuckin chess. BTW see you at Burnley
YATESY Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 There 'full-strength' team got a similar score line against Arsenal and Chelsea, so whats the issue here?
tylswhite Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I really hope Burnley do em on Saturday just so he looks an even bigger twat
desperado Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I really hope Burnley do em on Saturday just so he looks an even bigger twat Do you? Not me, I hope Burnley get a stuffing at home tonight against the Arse, a draw on Saturday, don't want any teams around us getting 3 points, should keep their confidence down enough to get a hammering from us on Boxing day
Whizz Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I couldn't care less what side they put out. I do think it is poor form and puts a bit more pressure on their Burnley game. It might be interesting if they don't get a result on Saturday. We did utd twice and nobody can take that back but we also did the same in a winnable European competition and followed up with the Wigan embarrassment.

Folk still bang on about the Lisbon team selection as though our name was on the UEFA Cup. Never saw it that way myself.
