barryk32 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 anyone seen that Talk About Kevin film? Â Â Looks heavy going. Â Saw Tyrannosaur tonight. Very dark, gritty and moody as you would expect from Paddy Considine but felt there was something missing. Â Not a patch on Dead Mans Shoes which everything he does will undoubtedly be compared to. Â It gets 8/10 on IMDB I'd only give it 5ish myself. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) I'm not taking sides as I know fuck all about the ins and outs  What I don't understand is why people still act like fucking 7 year olds when they claim to have seen a film 39 minutes sooner than anyone else?   I've got Rocky IV, The Evil Dead and I Spit on Your Grave on pirate VHS - beat that!  The only films I've ever seen well before release were Robocop - a copy did the rounds at school, and was raved about by everyone who borrowed it at a quid per night (it's dated now but this and Total Recall had amazing special effects back then).  An immature (we were all about 13yr old FFS) 'acquaintance' once bought a bootleg copy of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' for ?20. He got the piss ripped out of him three times that day; first by the seller, then when he revealed to his mates how much he'd paid for it, and once again when he put it on - it was filmed in a cinema on some shite Marty McFly style camcorder - obscured with loads of mouthy American silhouettes talking/laughing/providing a running commentary, going for a piss or (more) hotdogs, sody pops and popcorn. It must have been audio-taped separately too, because the sound was out of sync with the shaky, grainy picture. Twenty quid would have bought a lot of Strongbow back in 1990 (18.348629 litres). DazBob Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 No, is it any good, need a recommendation for this evening  Sorry mate. Don't know, hence my asking. Trying to work out if it's worth saving or one just to watch when there's nowt else on.  I could only find it in MP4 format with the sound file separate and it needed some fucking about to merge the two, which is why I ended up just buying the DVD. DazBob Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I've got City of Men to watch at some point this week. If it's half as good as City of God then I'll be a happy man. Quote
Boothy Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Hugo is out on Friday, meant to be really good. Currently rated 8.6 on IMDB and 96% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Â Perhaps one for the kids. Your best asking Frank though, he probably saw it weeks ago. Quote

Co-incedently, it is about half as good! Perhaps a bit harsh. Doesn't live up to Cidade de Deus though.  If your stuck for something to watch, there was a TV series of City of Men as well, which is based a few years prior to the film. (Same characters / actors) The series is as good as, if not better than the film. Quote
