It was sunny here yesterday... and like an idiot I worked with some freshly dipped creosoted timber rails... creosote and sunlight... look it up... I said to my mate I look like Homer Simpson when he opened that door and looked into the nuclear reactor.... red faced today

Our 3 collies are a bloody handful to be honest, so finding off-lead walks can be tricky.

All 3 on the lead together are impossible. 

Then finding a cottage to take 3 can be difficult. 

3 collies! You lucky bugger. I’ve had a few but not for a long time. My wife isn’t a dog person. I’d have loved to have had one on my walk today. 
 

Edit. Our first dog, cross collie, was 17 when he went to the canine heaven in the sky.

Actually, yes. Watched a bloke being hauled up in a cage as I approached. I then heard a number of hammer blows on to something metallic. I’m sure that’ll solve it. It usually does.😊

They're almost 7, but seemingly getting more immature!

Battles every day, with some piece of furniture disturbed.

They shredded a pair of waterproof overtrousers last week- I'd worn them whilst obliterating a garden of bamboo- and the buggers got them before I could wash them.

He is ace . He has been a handful all his life but what a dog never once took a step backward he is an absolute machine. He is stone deaf now , happened really quickly and  I have retaught him his recall with hand signals. He picked it all up in no time.We had a Marley and me moment today when he stumbled on  a rocky path and I had to help him up.l be lost when he goes .

They'd be too noisy on a site too.

At least in a cottage, with a secure garden, they aren't overly distracted.

Don't bother with sites up here unless you want to.

The one on the left as you look at it looks like my first collie ,he was an absolute gentleman the one on the right looks a bit like my current lad. They are great dogs but need work. I can't imagine keeping 3 occupied. The thing with collies is they are always thinking they never stop working shit out. Even in his old age mine just waits for a moment to get up to no good. Usually that involves befriending strangers in motorhomes then stealing food from them .

Spent the weekend on a farm in Waddington. Watched the farmer with his collie tending the sheep. In a quiet moment, I asked the farmer if it was ok to pet his dog. He advised against it. It was a working dog not a pet. 
I’ve had 3 and I also used to ‘dog sit’ my sisters when she went away. Lovely dogs.

They really are.This was ours today.

I reckon when he chews on his last bone and reflects on his life he may well choose today as his day of days. A walk on a lovely beach first thing  where he found and claimed a ball ,then a 3k hike to another beach possibly the nicest he has ever seen were he played fetch with new ball . On the way there he got stuck into a dead rabbit and on the way back a dead gull. He has had his tea and is camping at the side of a loch. All with his best mates

My next dog was always going to be a collie.

But having lost 2 of our 3 dogs in the last 4 months we've both come to the conclusion there now won't be a next dog. We'll just make the most of the little fella hopefully for a good few years yet.

I had to break the news to my mum that all the tiny Victoria plums on her new tree have blown off.

She's not impressed.

It's still nice out though, just difficult to judge what to put on- warm in the sun, and cool out in the wind.
