Farrelli Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 I remember when we signed Andy Walker, I was about 16. It was the first time I'd seen a footballer receive the ball at speed and properly kill it stone dead For anyone a bit younger, we had some REAL shit footballers between 81 and 92 Do you not remember the great TM. He could trap a ball under his belly and lose about 4 minutes of the game! Still number one on the teamsheet for our Phil though. The only thing Neal got right was pissin' off so we get a decent manager in. Quote

When there were rumours he was leaving, I remember playing Blackpool at home (3-0 I think) and the Burnden terrace was singing to the tune of KWS, 'Please don't go, please don't go, we love you so.....!!! We hammered Blackpool that night. It could have been eight. Still remember their fans skulking off the Embankment long before full time. Quote

Zico Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I'll give you an example of disloyalty. Not moving nearer to your dying father in law when given the chance to do so. What a load of old shit, you just like to use this in your "better than alladyce" routine He was a great manager, of that there is no doubt, but no matter the health of his old man at the time, rioch would still have left us for arsenal, it's irrelevant Quote

Didn't see that one coming But aye. Am sure he does rank as one of burnleys best ever managers even though most probably hate him for leaving, bit like some of our fans and fat Sam Still not sure what your point is Quote

At a club of Bolton's size I don't think it's possible for a manager who only worked in the 2nd and 3rd Division to be great. The hardest job is keeping us in the top division not getting us there.Rioch opted out of that challenge Quote

We wouldn't have had 13 prem seasons if we hadn't gone through the Rioch era. Quote
Whites man Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I'll give you an example of disloyalty. Not moving nearer to your dying father in law when given the chance to do so. I thought I couldn't remember that at the time & looks like I was right. In last nights BEN Rioch gives his reasons for leaving and his father in law's health isn't one of them. There's a strong enough case to be made for him without X Factor contestant type sob stories. Quote
HR Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 ?Rioch recalled. ?That drive and determination ran all the way through the dressing room. The will to win was just amazing. And it doesn?t leave you. I went back for John McGinlay?s testimonial and managed the team, and looking round that dressing room the same look was in everyone?s eye. Yes, it was a friendly club but we all wanted to win the game. You can?t take that out of people." Fook me I wonder how many looked back at Coyle like that last season.? Quote
