Guest bwfcdan Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 The four badminton pairs who attempted to lose on purpose to get better draws in the knockout stages have been thrown out of the competition. Good riddance. Quote
no balls Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 The four badminton pairs who attempted to lose on purpose to get better draws in the knockout stages have been thrown out of the competition. Good riddance. That's good to hear. They really have no place in the Olympics with that attitude. Anything come of the American coach slagging the Chinese swimmer off with no evidence? That's another thing not needed at all. Quote

Spider Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 The four badminton pairs who attempted to lose on purpose to get better draws in the knockout stages have been thrown out of the competition. Good riddance. You could spin that roud and say they were trying hard to win the whole event. The format of the competition could be blamed. Quote

DazBob Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 The four badminton pairs who attempted to lose on purpose to get better draws in the knockout stages have been thrown out of the competition. Good riddance. Officially kicked out now. http://www.theage.com.au/olympics/news-london-2012/mass-disqualification-of-badminton-players-may-open-the-door-for-australia-20120801-23fv2.html Don't agree with this. Morally it's the right thing to do, but they're setting a dangerous precedent in doing this. As Spider has said, they need to look at the format of the competition. The idea of entering the Olympics is to win a medal isn't it? So if losing a game gives you a better chance of reaching that goal then you can see why a team would do it. If Great Britain and NI play defensively all night tonight to get the draw they need rather than trying to win the game does that mean we should be kicked out? Of course not. The Olympic committee should've publicly shamed the Chinese and Koreans making the world fully aware of what had happened and how they were disgusted with them for going against the spirit of the games.... but also gone on to say they would be reviewing the format of the competition to ensure this kind of thing cannot happen again.
