I've regularly made better.

Without a word of a lie I think I've got some left at home that's been in the bottles for about 18 months that I made with grapes grown in Horwich, might be another thing for the Gardener's Club veggy/fruit section?

Lovely stuff is pear.

Luckily, there are Damson trees all over the place where I am. Been testing them for ripeness every day, found some more today and they're perfect for picking.

Will be raiding the locals' bushes tomorrow!

Brought a load of stuff back from Bordeaux today.

Just finishing a St Emilion that cost £4 and tastes like ten times that.

Tried too many to even remember, but would recommend a wine tour for any gout enthusiasts. You can get leathered for nowt (need a driver)

Aldi do a very nice Malbec in a bag. About £10 for 2 bottles worth. Dangerous as you’ve no idea how much you’ve drunk. Caught me out a few times

T'other half is just tucking into a barefoot malbec from Morrisons. Just tasted a drop, seems decent enough for £5.50

Do you ever get one of those reds that are so dry they're difficult to drink? Talking to an Italian about it and apparently they get loads of Italian reds just like that. Adding half an egg cup of water to a decent sized glass is an instant cure for unpalatable reds.

Heavy on the tannins.

Elderberry skins are very heavy in this way, and wine including them is better for being laid down a few years prior to drinking.

Coop sell a Rioja for just 6 quid a bottle that is good value.

Coop have campo viejo for 6.75 or something at the moment which is amazing.

With staff discount and membership points accrued throughout the year I was able to buy £107 worth of booze and food without handing over a penny.

Winning!
