I don’t drink white, but a friend who goes through oceans of it and knows his stuff tells me that there are some English white wines good enough to rival anything around the world.

Climate change has some benefits.

Been saying so on here for some time.

However, global warming will actually work against that.

Part of the reason is that acidity levels of English wines are enhanced by it not being quite so warm/slightly lower sunlight levels, which reduces ripening ever so slightly.

A fine line, between the slightly warmer climate on the continent and here.

Still plenty of other factors though; seasonal variations, soils, rainfall, wasp damage etc. Fascinating world.

Popped into Thomas Egerton last night before a do at Egerton CC and they have Chateau Musar at £30/bottle.

I've never even seen it before in Bolton but at £30 it's a steal.

It can be variable, but well worth a try.

Just opened an Italian Red Trezant[another letter here, perhap] Salen[another letter or two here, maybe]

Great smooth taste. Not bad for something I won on either a raffle or tombola (Hence the letters ripped from the label by the selotape which held the raffle ticket.

The Butterfly Effect, 2018 Shiraz from South Australia. Delicious.

After enjoying this bought 6 more bottles. Didn’t enjoy the next 2-3. Something didn’t hit the spot like that very first bottle. However it’s fair to say the next 3-4 were bob-on. Anyone else ever have this inconsistency? My taste buds? Or the wine differing?

Yesterday had a bottle of Yering Station Little Yering Shiraz 2016 at the Ivy. Absolutely delicious. Helped somewhat by the temperature of the wine. Highly recommend.

Stayed at Chateau Yering a couple of times. Great area for wine.

Bought 4 bottles of Trivento Malbec from the Co-op. Usually £8 down to £5.50 if you have a co-op card... Bargain.

I have a coop card but never look at their deals, to be fair I might've stopped their advertising by email.

To be honest though, I am not a fan of Trivento but that is a decent saving.

Only just noticed the deals... Don't think they have been running for long.... Defiantly not where I live anyway, it's only a small store.

It looks similar to that new thing Tesco are doing with their members card.

Suprised how much money store credit can be built up with the card. I buy bits from there every so often and have nearly £20 in it.

Good to hear.....I was involved in the ads.....when can we meet 😄

Aye, I imagine wine producers and advertising agencies call in roofers for especially big campaigns. 😀

The first thing that came to my mind when he mentioned that brand too.

I suppose it means the ads are working.

I had a bottle at the weekend that I've had in storage for a while, was a present.

Didn't realise it was over £100, and now I'm deeply annoyed.

Mainly because it was the best thing ever to slide down my gullet and I won't be buying it with my own money for sure.

Mollydooker - Velvet Glove. Yum fucking yum,

3 cases delivered this afternoon, Santa Claus' sled is now Wayne's Parcel Force van.

Night on the Black Stump beckons.

I used to make the excuse that I was having the piss head neighbours around, they are saying the same thing no doubt but we had some blinding round the world drinking sessions pre lockdown
