tylswhite Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 We'll never know if they're good enough because Bolton wanderers has this policy where we crap ourselves if someone gets injured or someone leaves. Spearing is a good player and is a great 3rd choice centre mid. But this effectively means that gregus or vela will never start a first team match and will be another kid we'll never know is good enough. Same for eaves and that lad from Wednesday or our kid keeper (lainton?). Freedman was forced to play kids at palace because they couldn't afford to go out and buy when the first choice got injured or left. And then suddenly they are selling players for 10million. Unless we can get in the prem and play kids to sell we'll never be sustainable and will go bust. If the young players are good enough they will get in the team. Dougie isn't one for ignoring the younger players and the fact that Keith Andrews is playing before them suggests they aren't very good or not ready for regular first team football yet. Besides Vela makes Paul Warhurst look like the iron man so hes not one to rely on for starters. Quote
CAPSLOCKCOLIN Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Unless we can get in the prem and play kids to sell we'll never be sustainable and will go bust. Talk about contradicting yourself. Spearing is what, 24? I'll hazard he's costing no more than just over a million, he's English and could be a mainstay in our midfield for the next ten years. How is that NOT sustaining ourselves long term? It could be the Vela finds his level in non league in a couple of years, simply because he's not good enough. Alternatively, if he's good enough he could become a star at the highest level. Simply put, only the backroom staff know who's better than who behind the scenes. If Vela deserves a run in the side he'll get one. If Spearing is better, so be it. TIL NEXT TIME CAPSLOCK COLIN Quote
xxxxxx Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 The objective is to get back in the Premier League, so we can focus on playing the youngsters a lot more if we get there next season. Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Great news BWFC good at playing poker on incoming transfers, wonder what pittance we paid? Quote
Garrp Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 get the fuck in great call Tomski as well. he called it saying bwfc were playing a blinder I thought we'd miss out trying to get him too cheap buzzing Quote
bwfc87 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 If Vela's not gonna get a chance here atm, then he should get a loan somewhere. I'd guess that if we get Spearing (personal terms to agree yet), that it's probably Andrews that'll be off because of his wage Quote
Guest Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Not nessacelery Chris. There are a lot of games in the Npower championship and no doubt there will be injuries and suspensions. Hopefully the end of Andrews' Bolton career though. is that the Sky Bet championship? Quote
Arrested development Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Dougie has plenty of faith in the youngsters. Played vela at Leicester last season in what was a big game at the time. Also used Tom Eaves in this game. Played Hall against Blackpool. Has used Odelusi this season already. I'm sure if they are good enough they will get opportunities. Quote
magic legs Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Another CB and we have as good a first XI as anyone. Quote

I'd guess that if we get Spearing (personal terms to agree yet), that it's probably Andrews that'll be off because of his wage We play 3 in midfield for the majority of games, I don't think Andrews will be here for long which will then leave Medo, Spearing, Pratley, Moritz and Vela. I personally think that's exactly the place in the squad Vela should be at the moment. In and around the team and covering for injuries/suspensions/loss of form Quote

Durks of Langho Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Really pleased with this signing and it will strengthen the squad as I would guess Andrews will return to the bench. I think Dougie was hoping to showcase Andrews given that the Burnley game was on TV last Saturday but his poor performance probably convinced Paul Ince not to bother!!! Well done Dougie/BWFC... Quote
SalfordOriginal Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Good value signing for a first team player who can still improve. Plus it's a kick in the teeth for the dingles for him to end up with us after they had a bid accepted Quote
Plums Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) That's the bollocks!! Edited August 8, 2013 by Plums Quote

If we signed bale I guess you'd be complaining. If the young ones were so good do you not think they'd be breaking into the first team already? I'd say more a case that we've got depth of squad for cover and for cup runs etc whilst they carry on playing in the reserves, cup games, training and being monitored etc by the experts and if they reach a level they'll get their chance from the bench and then more if they make the grade. Or perhaps I don't know what I'm talking about. Quote
anewman Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Ill let you all know the bit of information as soon as it comes in Quote
