Casino Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Surely not starting him would have achieved that aim. The obvious thing to do would have been to take Ream off, but that would have left us two slowboats in the middle, without protection, and with extremely limited ability with a ball at their feet. If we go orthodox 4-4-2 as many want, that's Ream plus one. Without doubt. exactly as i saw it you may wish to revise your opinion the most telling point was that it was knight and not mills, despite mills being on a card Quote

mannyroad58 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 We all know Knight is the weak link at the back and that N'gog is the weak link up front but collectively the lot of them should hang their heads in shame, there are 11 fuckwits out on that field not 2 or 3 it's about time the lot of them took responsibility individually and collectively and played for each other, the fans and the club, as soon as we let a goal in the lot of them don't want to know and until they all grow the fuck up and start to act like men the sooner we just might start to win games Grow some bollocks you overpaid set of cunts and start putting a fucking shift in Quote
ex_midlandwhite Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 It's tough being a bolton fan, I am all confused, 442 is the best thing since sliced bread again is it? Only I am sure "we" all hated it this time last year. Am confident based on the second half of last season that Dougie will get the right formation for the right game more often than not and he'll make changes in the game if not. We just need the players to stand up and get us out of this rut now. Quote
Traf Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I reckon it qwon't be long before we end up with: Bogdan ----------- Knight Ream Mills ----------- Mears Medo Spearing Tierney ---------- Pratley Eagles ---------- Ngog Quote

We just need the players to stand up and get us out of this rut now. Previously though I think we've all made calls on which formation we should used, be it 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 based on the personnel available. The key factor in the pro 4-5-1 argument (IMO) was that Mark Davies wasn't industrious enough to play in the middle of a 4-4-2. The major problem now though is I don't think we can really favour one formation ahead of another because there isn't anyone playing well enough to be a 'first name on the sheet' and to adapt a formation just for them. We go 4-5-1 and there's not enough creativity and the one up top won;t score in a month of Sundays. We go 4-4-2 and risk exposing an already shit defence even more whilst still having little to no creativity anyway. Struggling to find any positives at the moment. Quote

jules_darby Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I wasn't there Saturday but I was rather nonplussed with the wankathon over Ream in the holding role v QPR. Yeah sure he was ok, but it's the easiest position on the pitch - a few nice touches and collecting loose balls should be the minimum we expect... Was he that good on Saturday that folk are saying he must start tomorrow night?? Even in a 4-4-2? Quote
Guest bwfcdan Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Just having a discussion on Twitter regarding getting rid of Dougie (I'm not in that boat, still have faith) and whether we could afford to get release him and his staff? I think we'd struggle personally, what do everyone else think? Quote
Zico Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 dunno how much money we have and dunno how much it would cost to get rid so dunno doubt it'll happen anyway Quote

I wasn't saying that regarding that point - just in general I don't like it as I don't think we have anyone capable of being a lone striker Can't see him in midfield in a 4-4-2 either I have no answers like Quote

HomerJay Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 If we're playing one up. Beckford would be the least favourable candidate IMO. Ngog or if we must, cravies But the supporting men must score goals. Quote
