Traf
220 million so not a lot really. Â Maybe not to the likes of you or Jules Darby, but 220million buys a lot of medicine for sick people etc etc
Members bolty58
What might we find up there though Traf? Mankind has to explore it. Â The Cosmos is all that is or ever was or ever will be.
Traf
What might we find up there though Traf? Mankind has to explore it. Â Â I disagree. Â Total cost of the mission is 1.4 Billion. Â Meanwhile kids are dying all over the world now.

There's plenty being spent on that too. There's plenty causing it as well.
Whites man
Big assumption being made that money not spent on space stuff is spent on sick poor people.
bgoefc
I disagree. Â Total cost of the mission is 1.4 Billion. Â Meanwhile kids are dying all over the world now. You could throw that and a lot more money at the problem and then more people will simply rely on it, the population will increase in proportion, and the same size issue of starving children will still be there. Â Meanwhile by pushing the boundaries of exploration, new technologies are devised and refined and many ultimately find uses in downstream applications. kent_white
I disagree. Â Total cost of the mission is 1.4 Billion. Â Meanwhile kids are dying all over the world now. 1.5 billion is a drop in the ocean - especially as we could potentially learn the answers to some interesting questions about the origins of our species from the trip - or at least rule some out. Site Supporter Spider Posted November 12, 2014 Site Supporter Share Posted November 12, 2014 Clearly this comet is heading for earth and needs blowing up  Disguising it as some mission to find out what type of gloop we're made from stops the inevitable looting/panic.  It's not 500 trillion miles away either, it's about 2 days from impact. Nor is it the size of a village - it's 50 miles wide and will wipe us out in the blink of an eye.  If I were you, I'd be getting drunk tonight and punting as much bing up your conk as you can manage. Money is wasted that could be better spent every day. As far as frivallous wastes of money goes, this is a long, long, long way down the list.
