Smiffs Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 He almost, almost admitted he enjoyed it then..... I did actually enjoy a few moments of it. It's clear the bits people's wanked each other off about was when they threw the ball about instead of hoooooooofing it into the sky whilst the fat lads rolled around on top of each other. There is still a river of jizz flowing through Cardiff resulting from their try which came from a basic league move we teach our 7 year olds. If only they took it a next step and removed 4 fat lads offs the pitch..they could see stuff like that every week. The talent is there that's for sure. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 That's part of it though, bunch of big lads pushing another bunch until stalemate then move it on. Sometimes some of the kicks are a puzzle. Quote

I am tipping that when the novelty wears off, they will be seeing crowds like the A League Womens comp (association football). Two dirty owd men and a Jack Russell. The fucking goalkeepers are unbelievably shit. In the womens AFL, they can't seem to kick the ball further than about 25 metres. Great that the women want to enjoy playing the sports and they should get full backing for it. Lets not pretend that it's any kind of spectacle though. Maybe the bra burners can get along to support them? They didn't in the US with Womens Gridiron. They ended up having to have them dress in lingerie to get a crowd along. Quote

Kin el me and my brother had this argument at weekend withe the females in the clan, namely why females don't get the same rewards in sport such as golf or tennis. I'm quite tactful . . . My brother not so much. Basically, womn can't compete with most of the men and you're right it is less of a Spectacle. It's good that they play, no sarcasm honest, but most womens sports will never be as popular as the male ones for the obvious fact that males are better. Beach volleyball and female tennis matches however are very good to watch as are some female golfers too! Quote

birch-chorley Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Its very simple really Sportsfolk are paid dependant on the amount of people who watch them, the advertising revenue that pays the wages follows the viewing figures Men's sport is watched more and drives more revenue thus they get paid better, if women sport was watched more then they would get paid more (of that I have no doubt) So the question is why are men's sports watched more than women's? I'd say the first thing is the fact that generally men like watching sport more than women (huge generalisation but across the worlds population of 6b+ I'd say the number of men who like to watch sport regularly is much higher than women). I've got to beg my Mrs to let us stick sport on sometimes If women are genuinely concerned about it then start dedicating time to watch it. I appreciate its chicken and egg as its not covered greatly but you can start off on You Tube, if the figures get big on there then the networks will pick it up in no time at all The balance of power is in the hands of women worldwide, after all they outnumber men Quote

Take your point, but as the Wimbledon women are paid the same as the blokes, for fewer sets, then want to be a bit more entertained. Are they running around with beads inserted. Quote

We men don't complain that women models are paid more in the fashion world as 90% of the publications and fashion stuff is bought by women. Quote
Whites man Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 The prize is for winning the tournament. If Andy Murray won the Wimbledon final in straight sets he wouldn't be paid any less than if he had scraped through a 5 setter with tie breaks in each set. Quote

If the winning man didn't lose a set and the winning woman lost one each match they'd play the same number of sets. No problem with equality etc. but things like sport will yield differences as outlined above. Specifically women's tennis is miles behind the men's game as a spectacle; might improve if they had to go best of five sets. Quote

Dunno When I watched it a bit more, during the sampras era, women's was far more entertaining as you got more rallies than aces Quote
Casino Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 True Wimbledon has changed from those days, though Not sure if it's the courts or the balls getting slower Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Modern fitness and athletic ability has a part to play. Murray's ability to keep making his opponents play another shot to win a point in phenomenal. Quote
