Leyther_Matt Posted August 30, 2015 Author Posted August 30, 2015 White played well in that role on Monday as well. Can't say I'm convinced about his ability though, he just never seems to be comfortable on the ball. Quote
jules_darby Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Aye, him or Heskey... I thought our corners were decent too. Seemed to beat the first man. Could teach the first team a thing or two![/quotes] Walker did just that a few times the other week He's been written off already though apparently Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 it didnt hold muamba back Good point sir, the only worry about White would be that he has not got a clue what a legal tackle or challenge is and he would be a red card waiting to happen, he would put the wind up some Championship midflelders though thats for sure. tomski Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Another one praising the set up at city. Fantastic facilities, if kids have a choice of signing for them or somewhere else I'm failing to see them choosing anywhere else. Also got in for free due to being a st holder at Bolton! They had a £3m player at cm today. Well done lads. Quote

If my lad was good enough the last sentence would be why I would prefer him to sign for Bolton because you have more chance of getting a chance here. The set up at City is top draw from what I hear but I cant wish them well with the money the arabs are throwing at it I just hope it all implodes at some stage. Quote

Not sure about that.......I think about 8 of our team last night had either played or been on the bench for our first team ( & it showed ) & if good enough, will be given a chance to progress, but I doubt if any of city's team will ever get near to their 1st team because their demand for instant success will mean that they will continue to buy established players rather than wait for youngsters to gain experience & develop. Obviously i'm biased, but i would think that a kid would have more chance of progressing at Bolton than City. Quote

See now I look at it from the opposite point of view. Just imagine that sort of long term development somewhere in Bolton say all along Manchester rd between the railway and A666? fantastic for the local community. Quote
ex_midlandwhite Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 What those owners are doing for that area of Manchester should be applauded Quote
Gumbo Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Marple's lad had City, Utd and Bolton looking at him. He went for and is still at Bolton Quote
tomski Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 What those owners are doing for that area of Manchester should be applaudedSpot on, any objections can only be jealously imo. Some great points made and I would also hope kids would choose Bolton, but I think when these lads go on the tour of the facilities and setup their minds will be made up there and then, not necessarily thinking how quick they can get in the first 11. On another note we walked past the main stadium and noticed Bolton written one of the spirals and looked a bit more into it, it turned out to be all the branches of mcfc supporters clubs and there was tonns of places. We got discussing and pretty much all agreed we would never want to get that big as it wouldn't feel like our club anymore. Each to their own and all that. Quote

The old college site would be a perfect place to start. I'd love facilities like that for Bolton both the club and the town. Sadly i can't see anyone with the money of the sheiks getting involved Quote
jules_darby Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 What those owners are doing for that area of Manchester should be applaudedThey genuinely had the option of building it in the Cheshire countryside where it would have been cheaper but didn't as they want to "give back" to the local community It's brilliant really Quote

Yes, that's true, if a kid is allowed to choose on his own which club to join (or support ) he will go gloryhunting,...i'd just hope that enough kids are guided by their parents/guardians to look longer term. tomski Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I suppose we don't shop in the same markets as city but so do I bud. As you say I can't remember us having so many knocking on the first team door. Quote

MancWanderer Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I've watched that area transformed from a shite-hole wasteland to what it is now over the last few years and that was the first time that I've actually been inside it. It is brilliant, however, only a club with the resources of City can build on that sort of scale. They've also bought a lot of the housing across the road. It's fantastic for the community as they have top-class facilities for kids of all ages and both genders, and lots of them can get involved due to the size Whether or not they will ultimately produce any players from it is an entirely different question. Somehow I doubt it when they are prepared to wave over £200K a week at a player who failed to really cut it at Chelsea Quote

I agree with you in one way in that access for the community would mean that sort of area would be perfect. However, what has really worked at City is putting everything in the area of the stadium, and making a small area almost totally Man City. Young kids are able to play in the same general area as the first team players training. Reserves/U-21's/youth/women/etc all in and around the same area with the same facilities as the first team. It's a massive draw and inspiration for them. Would it maybe work on a smaller scale in the area around the Macron? Quote

I've no objections to it but I don't have to like it that before the Arab investment city didn't have a pot to piss in were worse than us and now they can throw 55 million at 1 player and we can't sell the whole club for 30 million for that reason I hope it all goes tits up and would feel same for every club who've got big cash input from wherever, only want it for BWFC. Biggish Dave Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 We need to try to form a friendly link with City - they will have loads of talented lads who get released at 18/19 over the next few years and we could Hoover up before other clubs get a sniff. Their rejects could hopefully be great for us a year or 2 down the line Quote
tomski Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Since the days of Richards, SWP, Onouha, Ireland etc have any academy grads got serious game time at citeh? My point being that I don't think this is the top priority of a young lads mind when signing. The kids all go to city or Chelsea etc. It used to really annoy me but why wouldn't they choose the best offer available, they may never make it! Quote

stevieb Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I had my mind blown yesterday for something another reason too. My mate pointed out that they didn't have a row 'o' and said all grounds are the same. I didn't know that! Quote
