Aye, but is was crammed in as an afterthought. Should've covered them lads in another series.....

They had to show how the bomber squadrons started to be able to go deeper into enemy territory, otherwise some of the missions wouldn't have made any sense.

Why? It's an important part of the story - without those fighters the bombers couldn't have gone as far into Europe - they were a huge part of the success of taking control of the skies in WW2.

Why? Because we'd had 7 episodes of a 9 episode series building up a story about a specific bunch of characters and their squadron, only for a whole new batch and story thread to be introduced near the end.

If they wanted to make a point about the Tuskegee Airmen, their incredible achievements and the specific hardships they faced, make a series about them.

I'm more making a point about the quality of the series and its uneven storytelling than the narrative of the war itself. It felt as if they only found out halfway through filming that they had 9 episodes to do their stuff and not more like 15.

Becasuse - as I say, the later missions wouldn't have made sense without explaining the supoport they got and where it came from. It would have been stranger to ignore it in my humble opinion.

Finished S2 of Blue Lights last night. Enjoyable but note that only the pro British side was portrayed as drug gangs/pro-nazi/criminal etc. "Combat 18" tattoo's? FFS.

Only to be expected by the BBC? Maybe they should read this?

You do know it wasn't made by the BBC and that it was written by people brought up over there?

FFS.

I wondered who would be first :D

Thought it might be Casino and his 'red hand gang' obsession.

Well done. Fastest minger first ;)
