jules_darby
Agree to an extent but we are going to have to start paying fees to get young players on the way up to sell on and cover losses. Btw I'm talking about 3-400k signings from league one or players from abroad, not £5m championship centre forwards. You can agree as much or little as you like but what I posted was a fact, not an opinion (the correlation bit) Edited June 2, 2018 by jules_darby
maaarsh
Transfer fees are for mugs. Roughly the same payback as lottery tickets in the long run.
John Thomas
As i,ve said to your blind faith sycophants , there aint no sale, investment or jack shit. Apart from Rotherham thats the only team we’ll finish above. I’ll be proved right.
RoadRunnerFan
You can agree as much or little as you like but what I posted was a fact, not an opinion (the correlation bit) I'd agree on the wages correlation. It's also fact that shifting players on for profit can support losses, losses driven by wages. So we need more of a balance. Free's with big wages didn't serve us well pre embargo, they may in the future. My opinion is we should take a more balanced approach. And I'm about as far from a speculate to accumulate facemither loon as you can get. ☺️
tomski
As Jules said wages is a better gauge but we are going to get caught sooner or later with the free transfer policy and we couldn't of got closer to being relegated than we did this year against 3 awful sides. On the flip side the new regime have achieved each season they have been here so more of that please. A Wigan and Blackburn relegation season will do me. They are both poor teams
RoadRunnerFan
As Casino has pointed out many times we went down from the Premium with the 12th highest wage bill. So correlation is a great guide but not a guarantee. I really believe that this season is our chance to think more long term. Unless you think some billionaire is on the horizon, buying low and selling high is our best chance of long term sustainability and success. My view for this transfer window is a mix of frees and younger players from lower leagues or abroad with fees less than half a million. RoadRunnerFan
Edit above worryingly Wigan and Blackburn both have better first eleven players than us. See Grigg,Bradley Rack, Mulgrew, Graham, etc.
bwfcfan5
Bit worrying that he dismissed the Saudi takeover talk. Though Ken did say he was talks with 3 parties about investment so who knows? Lee Anderson has always been adamant it’s investment not a takeover! He corrected Iles a few weeks back over said issue.

Moderators Casino Posted June 3, 2018 Moderators Share Posted June 3, 2018 Edit above worryingly Wigan and Blackburn both have better first eleven players than us. See Grigg,Bradley Rack, Mulgrew, Graham, etc. Will Grigg has scored 5 in 33 in this league Dack has never played a game I'll give you Graham will get a dozen goals if his Zimmer holds up Mulgrew like Graham were both part of the team that went down And etc is shit. Never rated him Both Wigan and Blackburn will be round about us imo

Course it’s not a guarantee; if it was they’d not need to play the matches. You’re right, it’s just a guide and there’s always exceptions If we can buy low it even for free and sell high, then that would be ideal of course. But then there’s even less of a guarantee that we’ll invest in players who’s value increases than the wage-success correlation Let’s see where we are come August
paulhanley
That's the first "closing in on a new signing" story of the pre-season that I've seen! http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wanderers/16267009.Wanderers_are_closing_in_on_playmaker_deal/

Take Hunt Off
Would be a good signing I reckon caused us some problems when we played Walsall in League one . Can he step up (not a pun as he is only a shortarse) is the question & only time will tell but he has skill on the ball & a decent goals return in a poor side. No fee, modest wages relatively. If he makes the grade then we have a decent player on our hands who is a good age. If he's shite, we'll still be able to command a fee for him to someone in L1. Benny Bear
Oztumer, very good player. Style is similar to the equally small, Barry Bannon. We need a creative midfielder who can score. My number one choice for a signing. Let's hope.

Plums
Different style of play? We’re a bit hopeful there. I just see him as Karancans replacement.

passmosster
Hope the physio is well stocked up on Ralgex because he will spend a lot of time watching the ball whistling over his head.
