Lostock Whites Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Is Matt Mills still at forest? Nottingham Wanderers Quote
mickbrown Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 He is indeed, I could never make my mind up about him. On reflection though, I think he was a bit biz I had no such indecision. He was fucking shite from day one Quote
Zico Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 that picture doesn't tell the whole story mind, that steward definitely seemed to have a poor aim and manage to get quite a few of their lot wet Quote

Duck Egg Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 All of those but also the often forgotten Blackburn game. Eagles in the 93rd minute. I was right behind the goal and could see it going in. The mental celebrations were as much to do with revenge for their late equalisers in successive years, as well as the 3 points it secured Quote
Lostock Whites Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Does anyone remember that 3-0 win against Peterborough, which started the revival of Bolton Wanderers. Who then then got promoted to the Premier League, and won the Prem title in 2019. And then became champions league and super cup winners in 2020? Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 'Will the driver of the number 54 bus please return to your vehicle, you've left the engine running' That reminds me. I haven't heard a "Could Mr. X please contact the nearest steward, your wife has gone into labour." for a while. One season there was at least half a dozen of those. Quote
famouswanderer Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Shall i be the morbid cunt? Lowest point... Probably fucking up a 2-0 lead v west brom in PL on the penultimate game Quote

One season there was at least half a dozen of those. i have done that twice: once v shef wed on boxing day to my mate in the wednesday end- jovial message goes out to a loud cheer; hilarious, everyone laughing at him once v everton on a midweek night to another mate- morbid message goes out just to ring home... he has no mobile, has to leave the ground, walk to the harvester to use a payphone, just to be told all was fine. he apparently demanded an inquest, until i admitted it some time later :-D Quote

Zico Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Shall i be the morbid cunt? Lowest point... Probably fucking up a 2-0 lead v west brom in PL on the penultimate game One I do remember as being very low, at the time When we lost a six pointer Derby at home 3-1 in fat sams first pl season Felt like we were going down at the first attempt again Quote
gonzo Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Megsons suicide v Hull was a bad one. Fuckin poisonous atmosphere. The worst of all has to be uniteds last minute goal mind. Whilst everyone was still celebrating. I gave up hating them that day. They sucked everything I had left spat it out and said fuck cunt eye, you're never getting the better of us. Some of dross under freedman was the lowest of the low. Seeing folk give up hurt more than the football. Quote
MancWanderer Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Megsons suicide v Hull was a bad one. Fuckin poisonous atmosphere. My lowest point ever supporting BWFC Bad for so many reasons. Winning. The tactics, The subs. Fucking freezing cold beyond anything ever experienced in the ground. IIRC he was sacked the next day(?). Visited my Dad in hospital to tell him. Last conversation I ever had with him. Passed away about a week later. No other game, home or away, stirs such bad memories Quote

Passed away about a week later. No other game, home or away, stirs such bad memories That's awful. Remember it being included on radio 1 news all day the next day. Using clips of booing and megson out. Never forget the feeling when I looked over and saw Gavin McCann stripped at the side. I said to my dad please god no, Not a striker there will carnage! Then boom, 17 came up on the board. Fuck me. Quote
MancWanderer Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Yeah. And my ST at the time was West Upper right near the away end. They went mental when it was 2-2 Such a bad night. Even the morgue that was West Upper was screaming abuse at Megson about the subs. Like you said previously it was poisonous. Stoke away was bad when we got relegated from the Prem but that night was beyond anything I've ever experienced Quote
stevieb Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Fucking Hull. Had a season ticket but stopped going second game of the season after Hull away. Didn't go again until Coyle was in charge... That turned out well! Quote
BWFC_LOVE Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Not seen Okocha's last minute penalty at home to Spurs mentioned in the positives yet. Massive goal at the time. Freedman's last home game against Derby on the negative side. They must have had 90% possession. The fan invading the pitch and throwing his season ticket at the bench. Not quite Megson levels of hatred, but it was certainly a poisonous atmosphere. Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Same game as whitlow?Yeah that's the one. He played left back with Bergsson at right back and Taggart/Fish at centre back. As a 10 year old I was mesmerised by the sheer noise of the booing and whistling while their team was being announced, didn't hear a single name. Quote
birch-chorley Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 The Okocha Rainbow flick over Ray Parlours head, in front of 28k Bolton fans. To do that skill against an incredible Arsenal team in the 95th minute. What a player. I was at a pro am football tournament and we had Ray Parlour in our team The awards dinner afterwards was at the Reebok and he was sat with us Knowing I was a Bolton fan he was trying to wind me up that Bolton were a bit tin pot etc etc I kindly reminded him of that flick and the countless times they lost here throwing titles away in the process He took it in good spirits but you could tell that was a day he would have rather forgot about Quote
ZiggyStardust Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 i have done that twice: once v shef wed on boxing day to my mate in the wednesday end- jovial message goes out to a loud cheer; hilarious, everyone laughing at him once v everton on a midweek night to another mate- morbid message goes out just to ring home... he has no mobile, has to leave the ground, walk to the harvester to use a payphone, just to be told all was fine. he apparently demanded an inquest, until i admitted it some time later :-D Had similar once, over the PA, will the owner of vehicle xxxxxxx please go and move it as its blocking someone in (It was parked at the now wifes works, and was blocking the owner in). I missed Gudni's 45 yarder whilst I moved it :-/ Quote

BWFC_LOVE Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 I'm almost certain Okocha did the same flick over someone twice that season, yet everyone remembers the one he kicked out of play. Maybe I dreamt the other one. Quote

Dr Faustus Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 Gonna try and pick XI from XX Been thinking of this for past 15 mins, and changed it a few times. Jussi Gardner Cahill N'Gotty Bergsson Campo Djorkaeff Okocha Gudjohnsen Anelka Bench Clarke Charlton Faye Hierro Nolan Diouf SKD Doubt it would've worked as a team, but would've been pretty. Hierro was nearly replaced by pre injury Laville- Klasnic, Tomo, Fish, Frandsen should probably be in there... No Wheater or Gunlargsson! Quote
