There'll still be some defending it, whilst claiming a proposition to give MORE people the vote is an attempt to "rig" elections

Amazing how someone who for years has been labelled a liar/fraud/hates the common man/bla bla bla is now telling the truth.

He’s changed his mind

Youre saying that’s ok?

He was in the cabinet that backed a policy and said collectively it wasn't gerrymandering and now admitted that exactly what it was.

Quite the day. Looking forward to tomorrow's news from this national Conservative gathering. They are acting like they are already in opposition.

Like him, you thought it was a great idea. It's only in hindsight - after it's backfired - that he's admitting it was a misguided attempt at voter suppression - which you consistently denied it was. One day the penny will drop, and you'll learn to stop trusting these charlatans.

I don't think there's a single same person who didn't realise it was purely brought in to try and suppress votes, and increase the Conservatives chances. JRM would have been better, in this instance, keeping his trap shut though

Hmmm, not so sure about that one - ill bet there's a few that dismiss/defend it.

How has the majority of Europe managed to do this? Did they all do it to suppress votes or was it to get with the times?

I don't think it's wrong, I think we should have ID, I actually think we should all be made to carry National ID Cards, I also think we should have our DNA taken at birth and registered, that's not the point though....

Remember, half the people in this country are thick as pig shit, and the Government know this, so they knew that this time round there would be issues. I'm sure they thought that would swing things in their favour

I'm sure it'll be fine next time round. If not, maybe then the time after. We'll get there eventually I'm sure

Most countries in Europe have national ID cards that are issued to everyone and they produce those.
The Govt produced a list of suitable documents that not everyone has. You could then apply for a card, but not everyone did.
No problem with ID to vote from me but the starting point should be a standard form of ID issued to everyone.

Just to help everyone out

Rees Mogg supported an idea but now it’s been implemented he’s realised it’s a bit shit and is chucking his toys out of the pram.

But that’s ok because loads of people who think he’s the dogs bollocks will continue to eagerly gulp down whatever jizz he shoots into their gobs.

Got it.

So there wasn’t an excuse not to vote if you really wanted to?

Wasn't there a plan years ago to bring in National ID but it was scrapped as some MPs from all sides opposed it?

I think it is more about the ones who 'might' vote than those will vote anyway. My niece was old enough to vote but no passport or driving licence. The acceptable items were (I think)  bias to people likely to support Tories so Senior rail card was ok,  young persons railcard was not.

Looks like he did.

Well I hope you are going to give him the treatment he deserves for doing so.

@bolty58 state of this. One of your Tory heroes has changed his mind. Supported something then realised it was a shit idea.

Would you rather he was sacked or ridiculed endlessly?

Goodness me.
