You could argue that we're not tied down in red tape and that we'll be more agile when it comes to negotiating internationally.

You could also argue that it will feel quite nice if we make a success of it - particularly when the rest of the world seems to think we're a laughing stock. Would be nice to stick two fingers up and say we made it on our own.

Past that I'm struggling.

Anyone who thinks that red tape will be banished after we leave the EU needs to give their heads a good shake

We are the kings of red tape, look at areas where the EU have no involvement, still loads of it

In fact, I’d bet that the EU has less red tape once we leave as we won’t be part of the rule making

It don't seem that long ago when we got the same train when it was hammered in the carriage full of Bury fans going to Carlisle, a bit of piss taking when I departed at Lancaster, some fit Milfs on board mind for that part of Bolton.

Obsessed with me aren’t you ?

Poor effort at derailing the thread from the blindingly obvious problem of the Lib Dem’s.

No deal.

Borrowing at 90% of GDP

IFS certain that this will flatten the economy (and bear in mind the IFS is considered the final word on these matters by ALL sides)

Hard to believe people still think it's a good idea, but hey-ho, wait until your pensions and share funds are empty.

Borrowing at record levels. Ironic that those who went mental about Brown's borrowing to stave off the banking crisis and still moan to this day will be all for Brexit that will be considerably worse.

Why should we subject people to public service cuts and austerity for generations to pay back a bill that is entirely self inflicted when they can't even provide a single tangible benefit. In 20 years why would a 40 year old who didn't even have a chance to vote in 2016 care that angry middle aged people could puff their chests out and pretend we've got sovereignty. Won't help them pay the bills or pay off the national debt.

Its crazy. Madness. Reckless.

Don't forget the mantra. The Conservatives are the party of prudence and economic stability!

A decade of austerity to fix the national debt and they're about to plunge us straight back onto the abyss. Only worse. The mind fucking boggles.

Don't also forget the Tories statistically spend and borrow more! Their propaganda, lies and spin are just more effective.

We've heard all the apologists on here saying give him time, he is playing a blinder, etc, but the reality is that Johnson has been aiming for no deal since he took office.  I sincerely hope that Parliament can stop this happening and we get a chance to remove him from office soon.

dunno who it was but some commentator on 5 late one night

reckons the opposite

bozo has to protect the tories from TBP

so has to play the hard core remainer card

he will go to the supreme court

he will be told he has to apply for an extension

he can then claim theres nowt he can do but comply

wont be his fault

its plausible, i think

It would be the Boris play. But not the Cummings one. Unless Cummings has suddenly decided his aim is to keep Boris in power for the next 5 years.

I suspect at some point Boris and DC will part ways because Boris has ambitions to stay where he is and it isn't compatible with DC's hardline Brexit position.

I'm not sure that was his plan but it could play out that way.

I think he wanted a no deal by default, or rather, Cummings told him to go for this.

The truth seems to be coming out about the real intentions of the backstop

FFS. The intentions of the backstop are crystal clear and have been all along.

A legally enforceable agreement that protects the GFA and the EU's single market. And ensures both sides comply with international trading rules.

The fact that Brexiteers have been saying "its easy" to solve for 3 years but haven't come up with a solution in that time speaks absolute volumes.

If there is a solution that does those things then spell it out.

No, the real intentions; see Arlene Foster
