It's also never a good idea to assume Michael Walker - or anyone from Novara Media - is acting in good faith either

She's been prevented from standing due to liking a series of Tweets downplaying accusations of antisemitism and also Tweets playing into antisemitic tropes

Tweets that she herself has acknowledged she was "foolish" to like and has apologised for

Sounds like you agree with Labour's decision then. 👍

Here is the reality of the Tories national service plan. Money will be plundered from the levelling up shared prosperity fund meaning Wales will again suffer funding cuts. They have already seen about £1 billion reduction in funding from Westminster for the 2021-2025 period.  There has been a scandalous disregard for all devolved regions by the Tories since Brexit.

They really are fucking eejits aren’t they.

Conservatives said it would help ensure young people who were not employed, in education or training, or at risk of getting involved with crime, would be diverted away from "lives of unemployment and crime".

She's not, but like a lot of wealthy southern liberals she's protectionist for her kids - she's also South African so ill give her a bit of leeway with the British school system.

Also she's a lesbo so going near her arse is a no no.

Don't you like a challenge? 😜

Farage is a one trick pony. Brexit has been terrible for UK business and there has been no discernible benefit to immigration. Meanwhile he is pals with Trump. Great judge of character 😂He belongs in the bin with Liz Truss.

Lizz Truss is doing/has done a podcast with Carl Benjamin.

Unbelievable.

I have never seen any high profile politician with such a lack of self awareness. I’ll take a look at the podcast later but I’m expecting her usual level of cringe.

So they've changed their minds and it's now only for unemployed 18 year olds?

Which is why its non-policy catnip. It rests upon the idea that it won't be for the better off kids but just that poor lot, so Tory voters don't have to worry about Tabitha getting upset about not having her gap year travelling in India.

Its the same as the university nonsense yesterday - don't worry your slightly below average intelligence upper middle class kid will go to uni, its more your working class lot who were never meant to go and seemingly have when they should have been doing a GNVQ in plumbing.

Its the not so subtle know thy place messaging and tropes that these sort of policies play into. And they know excatly what they are doing - its been the same forever when they are getting a pummeling in the poles - see Major's using Orwell's 'old maids bicycling to Holy Communion through the morning mist speech.' when he was losing to Blair - its a way of trying to stoke the idea of nostalgia of a long gone/never really there Albion which gets their core base up and out - because apathy more than Labour is worrying the Tories at the moment. The, they are going to lose, so why bother?

Finally, on the conscription note, if people want something like that follow Sweden's example, its has conscription but actually its seen as real priviledge to be selected. So a hundred thousand 18 year olds are put into the process but only 5% serves with it doubling to 10% which increases the miltary capacity but also the standards in the miliatry are higher - they are selecting the best of their generation and being successful through conscription means better jobs upon leaving as employers know you are the top of your peer group, no matter what background you are from. The army is getting real talent, try and tempt the best to stay on for a career in the service, those who leave become reservists and can be called up which again increases numbers. This seems a well thought out plan, rather than lets sling a load of kids into a boot camp because we can't figure out how to put a system in place to educate them propeprly into successful careers

Will the royal children be expected to take part?

Yes – everyone will be expected to undergo National Service.

Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, would not be exempt, the Conservative Party told The Telegraph.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie also have young children who would be eligible to take part once they reach 18 as well as Prince Edward’s son, the Earl of Wessex, who is 16.

is also not known whether people in full-time education or employment would be compelled to take part, or whether they would be able to defer completion.

I agree on having more aprenticeships rather than folk going to Uni and building up 000s in debt is a very good idea.

Do Muslims have to go?

No, and immigrants awaiting asylum will be allowed to stay in an 18 year olds bedroom whilst they are off doing their service
