Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 It comes across as he is moaning at all of us to be honest Hardly going to convert folk into supporters. Just hope he hasn't bitten off more than he can chew- should the statement have read: "fuck; I thought I could turn this lot round rapidly, and the thousands of wealthy boltonians would flock to the macron. I have made a massive booboo and I'm not likely to get my big pay day..." Quote
MickyD Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Atlanta just demolished a stadium built in 1989. Not that much older than ours. Granted, the Yanks are fucking mental. If that's Atlanta Ga, they weren't Yanks, they were Confederates. Just Sayin' Like! Quote
MalcolmW Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 If we were to move on, not that we would, there can’t have been many/any teams who only spent 20 and a bit years in a new build modern stadium then moved on. I know Scunthorpe have been on about it for ages but this would be on a different level. Stick it on Leverhulme Park, that’d really give them something to moan about Newton Heath moved to Bank Street in 1893. Over time they expanded the capacity to 50k, but with ramshackle stands, one bought from Broughton Rangers. In February 1902 they received a winding-up order. By an accident of fate, the captain's dog (a ST Bernard) found a businessman who, together with 3 others, each invested £500 to keep the club afloat. At the end of that season they changed their name and colours. In February 1910 they moved to a new ground in Stretford. Not long afterwards the main stand at Bank Street blew down in one of those storms we didn't used to have very often. Quote
jayjayoghani Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 It was a fantastic stadium I loved it when I went for Wrestlemania. The new place looks amazing though tbf Any idea why it got flattened? I was reading there were problems with the roof. Quote
frank_spencer Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Any idea why it got flattened? I was reading there were problems with the roof.No idea other than they wanted a fancy new stadium. Nothing up with the place really. Certainly not enough with it to warrant spending $1.6bn on a new one Quote
gonzo Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Do Darlington still play in that big daft ground the safe cracker built? Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Do Darlington still play in that big daft ground the safe cracker built? Don't think so. Top gear did an episode a while back careering round the car park and it looked a bit unused then. Quote
waffer cup 07 Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Darlington FC play at Blackwell Meadows, the rugby club play in the football stadium. Quote

birch-chorley Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Drive past the Darlington one every now and again, it’s near our factory Apparently they haven’t played there for years, did a stint at Bishop Auckland and now play on a Sunday league pitch back in Darlo I’m sure they finished 6th last season but had to forfeit their place in the play offs as the ground isn’t up to scratch Quote
Ghana White Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Yeah the Secretary didn't know the rules had been changed and they re-built the rugby ground with not enough seats. They didn't appear to realise until the league told them. Bloke has resigned now.. the dangers of having fans in charge of the club. Quote
Ghana White Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Looking at Boltons attendence Tuesday and looking back historically 13000 near the bottom of the 2nd division isn't bad at all for us. Even going back to the 1930s. If the Andersons looked beyond a couple of games at the end of last season they'd realise that. Quote
enzo gambaro Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Any idea why it got flattened? I was reading there were problems with the roof. The dome was fucked. It pooled water and eventually fell in. Folk would have been killed if it had happened on game day. Think the windy season fucked it up a bit too (can’t remember if it was Katrina or one of the umpteen others). If the soft cunts just sucked it up and played outside there wouldn’t be a bother. Quote

Didn't know that. I knew the roof of the Minnesota stadium collapsed under heavy snow. Quote
