Each have their own spot daily (although suspect not currently). They get dropped off in the morning in a sprinter van and all collected at night and taken back to the large detached house in the street behind my in laws. In laws house is worth about 0.5m and the Romanians house is slightly bigger with a bigger corner plot as well. Go figure

peelyfeet
I've just noticed that pennine health trust - basically oldham rochdale bury are particularly slow at reporting deaths - their figure for today - 27 deaths, includes multiple patients who died 3 and 2 weeks ago. Bolton, Wigan, Manchester seem like they're on the ball.

Aye, you know better than the official figures, check the death per rates per million, were nowhere near the worst. (Granted wish it was better) Why folk like you seem to want to portray the UK in the worst possible light, I just don’t get mentality like yours. Just checked, we're currently 5th worst with 237 deaths per Million people - so in fairness to Mounts, Belgium have twice the problem that we have, we have a large number, but as a percentage, their number looks a lot bleaker 1st: Belgium (503) 2nd: Spain (446) 3rd: Italy (391) 4th: France (302) 5th: UK (237) 6th: Netherlands (219) I've excluded San Marino and Andorra, as they're not real countries...... Site Supporter only1swanny Posted April 20, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted April 20, 2020 Read somewhere that the Romanians were skilled pickers and coming over to train seasonal workers.. They are early due to having to be in 2 week isolation. Also read that 1000's had applied to pick, a lot less actually bothered with the interview, and even fewer took the job on. I wouldn't go working in a field all day, but then again I'm not out of work, so it isn't a fair comparison. It's also down to Logistics.. nobody is picking fruit in Farnworth.. Whereas Southport, surrounded by fields... is quite affluent with low rates of unemployment.

If you're furloughed you're not allowed either. One farmer said when seasonal workers come they don't have a family to support or other life admin- so their sole focus is the job & working as many hours as possible.
