Together with satellite pictures of a train load of tanks supposedly arriving somewhere. Also interviewed James Heappy, defence minister, who still reckons Russia is likely to go in. Of course the information could be wrong, we'll see I guess. Yikes! Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Seems odd that there'd be no "opposition" and could be bullshit. Who knows. Quote

I was wondering the same things so I've just been reading about it. Apparently it's 6 miles from the border with Ukraine. But not exactly a positive sign of de-escalation! Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 (edited) Like Barrow-in-Furness. The Ukrainians are tooled up to the teeth and will make Afghanistan look like Sunday afternoon handbags in a pub, they have a very dim view of Russians. They're prepped for an insurgency. They tend not to go well for invaders. Edited February 17, 2022 by Youri McAnespie Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 (edited) You're dead right. Numbers on the Russian side, determination and sense of justice on the ukranian. Apparently, Putin doesn't do much by way of formal repatriation of bodies, more bury them where they fall. Russian public won't see many repatriation flights but therell he many a mourning family. Gonk Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Russian defence outlet released some videos yesterday supposedly showing troops and armament going back to their bases from the front. ITN used google earth to identify buildings shown in the videos to plot the direction of travel, and these were all going towards the border rather than away from it Quote

The separatists in that region (shelled the kindergarten yesterday) clearly acting under instruction. Waiting for a response to create the false flag situation. Could all calm down I suppose, but there are major exercises going on to. Very handy. Quote

kent_white Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 I might have been distracted - but I don't remember anywhere near this level of coverage/alarm when Russia annexed Crimea. Did I just miss all the hype or was it all much lower key at the time? Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 Wish I had shares in mbda. Dropped a little in value today, but if we end up supplying more stuff to Ukraine, then who knows. Quote
