It took them fully offline for two whole hours. They told our IT people that they get "attacked" every couple of weeks, but they usually nip it in the bud, this time it got through and caused them utter chaos. The usual statement about terrorism etc applies here; the defenders have to be successful every time, the attackers only have to be successful once. I've no doubt that western powers are employing similar tactics. Quote

Commentator on BBC reckoned that, in part at least, that's why the Russian economy isn't doing so well. Which could be a contributory reason for the action he's taken- to garner more support back home. The web of Russian money in London will no doubt ultimately filter down somewhat a help with the economy, so cutting that supply isn't going to be done unless its a final option. Interesting little article here; been happy for their cash pretty much since the end of the soviet era. https://www.theguardian.com/news/2018/may/25/how-britain-let-russia-hide-its-dirty-money Edited February 16, 2022 by Tonge moor green jacket Quote

Was a Typhoon doing some testing over the sea I think, although some newspapers reported it as a P-8 Poseidon which is basically a similar type plane as Ryanair fly so obviously ridiculous. We avgeeks do like to laugh at badly identified aircraft in the media, many of us have never kissed a girl. Quote

Think I’ve told this on here before but once was on a boat on lake Windermere and I heard this horrendous noise and just felt this huge gust of wind and then the ripples on the water. Looked up and there was nothing there. Mentioned it later to this guy in the pub and he said it would have been the Air Force testing a jet and you would have had no chance of seeing it. I told my owd man who’s an aviation engineer and I don’t think he’s ever been so excited 😂 Quote

They were getting some last minute low level practice in before going joining the action in the South Atlantic apparently. Quote

I've just gone down a military worm hole from a couple of Google recommended articles; onto Babcock frigate being considered by the Polish navy, Chinese submarines and ultimately mbda and their huge range of missile systems etc, including sky warden- an anti uav type drone that twats the opposition's drones. Real warfare is increasingly becoming game-like and autonomous. Freaky. Quote

There's a new system in advanced trials called "loyal wingman" basically a single manned jet that has nominal control over a swarm of drones that can attack or defend as required, mental stuff. Probably should end up in the conspiracy thread like but I've read some really interesting stuff about these increasing numbers of UFO sightings by the US military, that they're actually Chinese spy drones infiltrating the most heavily defended ships and bases that USA has, seemingly at will. Aye- tempest amongst others. Either manned or not, but with its own cluster of smaller drones. Fascinating stuff. As for the Chinese, wouldn't put anything past them- and they probably stole the designs for their spy drone in the first place. Quote

Together with satellite pictures of a train load of tanks supposedly arriving somewhere. Also interviewed James Heappy, defence minister, who still reckons Russia is likely to go in. Of course the information could be wrong, we'll see I guess. Quote
