Best will in the world, I'm not joining twitter to read it.

I presume there are examples of poor investigations.

The sources BBC Verify relied on - some of whom work for BBC Arabic - for the IDF abusing doctors story are, at best, extremely partisan

Posts in praise of and celebrating Hamas terrorists

One of the examples, though, is the calling for Shakira to boycott a concert in Israel, which is hardly comparable

Just been digging around the Internet. Got the gist of it now.

Iranian backed chap etc.

Messy.

Is anyone really surprised? The BBC are a fucking disgrace as far as so called 'unbiased news' goes. May as well label themselves "Socialist Worker".

Hey up, we will have our resident Israeli war expert along soon, totally ignoring the content but questioning who posted it.

Nah 🙂

You’ve all converted me.

Up the IDF 🇮🇱

They’ve not put a foot wrong . It’s all BBC socialist lies.

Am I getting this right.

A journalist is claiming (without any evidence) that the six bbc employees he names are the BBC Verify team.

And this is based on their obvious bias based on their twitter profile.

And that the BBC is therefore biased towards one side.

This is his profile :

Hardly unbiased himself, but its on the internet, so people will believe him.

FWIW, I have no idea who the BBC verify people are, and I guess that no-one else here does either.

Aye

He may well be right about the verify team

And the report about the medics being treated the way they were may also be right

He might be fighting for truth but he's also not said those things didn't happen, just making you doubt they did

I guess it just depends what you want to believe more

David Collier is highlighting misinformation and dodgy sources at the BBC. He is obviously pro Israel. That doesn’t mean he is wrong. Here are his reports for those without twitter. The BBC are aware of his claims so have the right to reply.

Anyway, it’s kicking off between Pakistan and Afghanistan now.

Not long after Iran fired into Pakistan.

Wonder where the Palestinian protestors are, and what "side" they'd be on?

Doubt David Collier reports on the Palestinians being displaced in West Bank and attacked daily…Doubt that he reported on the kids who’ve died from starvation because Israel prevented aid..

Happy to be proven wrong though?

I don’t deny that there has been misinformation from the BBC. We’ve seen it before and we’ve seen it from other media sources. It’s an incredibly challenging conflict to report on. But the BBC have been far more balanced on reporting both sides atrocities than the likes of David Collier.

Apparently sources aren’t important though 🙄

The sources were credited by BBC Verify themselves in the article they published

Two of them, not all six, are employees of BBC Arabic

Do you have a link to the article they published, as the twitter thread does not provide one.

Thanks.

I was looking under BBC Verify, as the twitter article constantly referred to it as being a BBC Verify article.

Looking at the article, it was written by Alice Cuddy. And Verified by others not named in the tweet.

So we are down to the fact that 2 of the 3 reporters on the ground are from BBC Arabia. I assumed that it would have been BBC Iceland doing the reporting.

The Twitter author also makes reference to the fact that some of those interviewed have anti-Israel/anti-Jewish bias, and that this therefore shows a bias by the BBC. I assume he also believes that the IDF spokesman is anti-Jewish, otherwise this causes his bias claims to be shown to be, at best, disingenious, and at worst, a downright lie.

Its not a BBC Verify report, its a report of claims made by those on the ground, told to Journalists who work in that country. And for balance, allowing the other side to dispute those claims.

When reporting comments by the IDF Spokesman, the reports state it is the IDF Spokesman and the reader can determine for themselves how much faith they should place in veracity of the spokeman's comments

Whereas it's a requirement that journalists working for the BBC are impartial and so the apparent bias is unclear to the reader when their names are simply stated

And beyond that, it's certainly important for people to be made aware that some of the sources quoted in the article have publicly praised/celebrated Hamas terrorists

The article was verified by three members of the BBC verify team; I'm not sure the fact it may or may not technically be a BBC verify article is particularly relevant as the sources used for the verification - and the thoroughness of the verification process - are what's being criticised
