I'm not having that Mainoo is anywhere near ready.

... &, apparently, Henderson was injured in training or he'd have been first choice.

I get loyalty, but it can be a failing as well as a strength.

He's quality and beyond his years. Calm too.

Best option for that position imo

Since the usual players in that position are either out of form or semi retired

can't read anything into that, players pulling out with made up injuries, bang in the middle of a title race etc

was a noting game

Noting? Yes, noted. The next World Cup winners were on that pitch and it wasn't Southgate's signallers.

Barely watched a full game since that characterless chimp took over.

Symbolic of the “new” flag.

He’s a bit to go to get in front of Rice.

Chilwell done quite well previously.

Bit off it today, but he's slowly getting back from injury.

Worth while checking them out before finals.

I'm not convinced an international game, friendly or competitive, is the place to do any part of your recuperation from injury.

There are lots of opportunities below this level for a player to be "slowly getting back from injury"

Maybe it's just me.

Not 100% sure on this obsession with playing / finding another holding midfielder alongside rice all the time. Just because GS has always done it doesn’t mean it’s always necessary. Some of the best international teams past and present only had/have 1.

fully get it when we’re playing the better nations as it gives more protection. Mainoo might not be ready yet or turn out not to be the man but he needs to be given the chance to show that he is. As the other candidates are nowhere near it.

but for the majority of our games particularly the upcoming euros and the group games in particular, we would be more than comfortable with Rice sat behind Foden and Bellingham. We can then have Rashford and Saka either side of Kane.

GS just needs to have more trust in that midfield 3 being able to cope with the serbias and slovenias of this world

Crossing over into the other thread, with this comment, but it poses the question as to what the purpose of Charles joining up with NI was?

I’m hoping the Stevenage does another 90 with a slight injury for Friday

Yeah a little rest on Friday for him would be good

One of the better strikers I’ve seen at our place last few seasons in Div 1, he was a handful

John Stones would be our best answer along side Rice like he plays for City.

Trouble is we don't have anyone else good enough to play CB.

Reminded me of Bolton last night going forward, wouldn't have scored if we were still playing now. No Kane. No goals.

I'd love to see Foden more central but how you do that with Bellingham is beyond me.

They weren't much kop, proper limbs as the kiss say when they scored.

What a gaff wembley is BTW, never ceases to amaze me. More like being at a concert than a football match sometimes but the kids loved it.

By playing him alongside him. Rice behind

on the stones bit, you solve one problem and create another though because CB is definitely where we are weakest.

LB for the tournament is also a problem as shaw is unlikely to be fit. Chilwell has gone off the boil so much our next best option in there is a RB.. Trippier

GS has now seen him I'm training and under match conditions. If he's not ready, at least GS can now try others in the remaining friendlies.

We should have gone for him in the transfer window

Plus taylor and gayle...

Cole stockton, too?

Anyway, if reid moves in the summer to somewhere 'bigger' than stevenage, i will give it more thought

Gayle was the best CF this season at our place.

I would be better than Cole Stockton; carthorse

Centre back is our Achilles heel, unless we can find a decent one or two we won’t be winning anything.
