Maybe I'm old school but whenever I saw a fella working at my lads nursery it just never felt right. Why on earth a fella wants to work with babies and toddlers is beyond me anyway, get a proper job ya weirdo.

I see nursery staff simply extending their maternal instincts to others.

Aye fair point, I don’t think you are conflating the two.

It’s not about it being ‘all very nice’. It’s about the scientific evidence behind it that says having male role models around in childcare is better for kids & better for society. This is research based mate, not another LW 10 paragraph rambling theory 😄

 It’s evidence that is influencing current government policy (across parties) to change it & bring more males in. From July this year.

Nursery isn’t a place where kids go just to get their diapers changed & get cuddles. They learn risk taking, step out their comfort zone & build independence. All of that is achieved better with both genders about. Blokes can bring a lot of input into the set up of an early years setting as well. It’s definitely not an arena best left women & female staff don’t want it seen as that either.

Says in that link 9/10 parents would like to see both genders caring for their kids. I guess you’re in the 1/10 category? And to be fair, I can see your point about babies at nursery. But it’s a shame because it’ll be people in that 1/10 old school group labelling someone a weirdo that is enough to put someone off making a difference & doing a job they’d enjoy.

Tbf he’s posted interesting stuff in the past & is sometimes up for hearing opposing views. 

I found the survey he shared about the views of young Muslim men interesting. Important we don’t shy away from these topics anymore & it’s not ‘far right ‘ to bring it up.

But some of his recent posts have been proper extreme . Combined with him with looking to shut down debate by insulting folk he disagrees with. Not a good look. 

You worry where the country is heading & what folk will condone when you see shite like that being posted.
