St George is truly an international saint and England is not the only country or region to claim him as its patron.

England shares St George with Venice, Genoa, Portugal, Ethiopia and Catalonia among others as their patron saint and many of these places have their own celebrations and ceremonies in his honour.

WE CAN'T EVEN HAVE OUR OWN SAINT!

I don't! As I say I'm draping myself in a st George's Cross as we speak to join in with the Stella drinking and windmilling at the police like a true Englishman.

Celebrating what's best about our country.

Your mask has slipped

Stella is Belgian

St Patrick wasn't born in Ireland.

Yet no bugger seems bothered.

Countries all over the world celebrate their nation/culture in all manner of ways, and are happy to do so.

Only the usual progressive group-thinkers telling folk what they have to believe, how to think and to be anti-English as that's the only way to atone.

I've not put a flag out, been to a party or done anything specific to the day, but it doesn't mean I look down on those that have.

All the best to them.

I must admit, I'm not really sure about them who've traveled over to Gibraltar to dress in chainmail like crusaders. That seems a bit odd. Still, they seem to be having a good time.

Who’s telling you what to believe & how to be anti English?

Might need a bit more detail with claims like that.

I think folk who go out for St Patrick's day, end up getting leathered on Guinness whilst wearing those stupid hats are bellends

They may be Irish, maybe (probably) not

But they're still bell ends

I get that, but why does our national day seem to involve daft cunts getting wankered and kicking off in London

The Irish and Scotchers get wankered happily without trouble in the main.

Looks like there was a lot of that 2 tier policing going on today. Speaking of which I see Tommy Robinson, sorry Stephen Christoper Yaxley Lennon was aquitted today. The Met fucking up again.

Anyone breaking the law deserved to get nicked.

Won't be the case on the next pro-palestine march.

Intelligence suggesting far-right/football hoolies would be in attendance, and has been policed accordingly. Fair enough.

Yet when individuals with knows pro-terror sympathies get involved with hate marches, it seems that the commissioner is far less stringent.

Does this happen on a regular basis on St George’s day in London?

Take note folks. This is what happens when you don’t read all the posts. You come across a bit of a spaz 👍

Feel pretty much the same way.

Nothing against people feeling proud & wanting to celebrate etc. I think we see it in a a more positive manner at events like the coronation etc.

Events like this in London just put folk off, as does some of the historic behaviour of England fans at major tournaments. Tartan army & Irish fans have always had a better reputation abroad. Hopefully it will be decent at the Euros this year.

Do the Scotchers and Welshies do anything to celebrate their National days? Or are they pretty much like the English and don’t do a great deal? I genuinely have no idea

I love Paddy’s Day but never really took much notice of that until I married into a pikey family

Take notes on a footy forum 😁 you been on the golden ale today?

Similar number of arrests at the last Pro Palestine demo as there was at the St George one today. Shows pretty balanced policing to be fair.

I’m sure that the majority on both were there peacefully 👍
