  1. Much prefer Bury TC also. Better ambiance, and the first language is still English Paul's farm shop in Leyland (beltin' stuff), and a quick vist to a desserted Tesco on the site of the former ordnance factory on the way back. Either of these, and rarely in Bolton. Having just packed in working for the "corpy" and seeing the fucking shit hole a large proportion of the town's folk leave their environment in, there seems to be a correlation between the town and its footy team!
  2. SSN have just stated that the club has reduced its 'retained debt' by ?9.3M to just over ?26M. Not sure what this means exactly, but considering the financial discussions in other threads, it prehaps shows the direction the club is heading. Can't help reading into this that any transfer funds would have to be generated by further player sales.
  3. Can look at it both ways- but us getting cheaper loans, with him getting a better interest rate seems to suit. Whether it proves untimatley flawed, only time will tell. I think Coyle may have to start blooding some youngsters though, as at the moment the writing appears to be on the wall
  4. Unless there are injuries we don't know about- the team selection suggests panic. Coyle trying square pegs in round holes. Players clearly deomotivated. There are obviously things wrong behind the scenes. Reminds me of Sammy Lee's days. Owen drop the shite, bad eggs, and wasters and show the punters that at least you care, even if the players don't
  5. Sure I read once about him being on the embankment with his brother as a kid at the Disaster. They got split up and his mum was scared shitless until they both got home. Saw a brief bit of him last night and was surprised by how neutral he was in his comments about Tevez; given his role I think he was actually wanting to say "I reckon he's a complete tosser, but I can't say so" or words to that effect. Must be difficult to play the polititian all the time, as it undoubtedly alienates some people. He could be a tool though
  6. Indeed. Not sure if they could be bothered though; might be better to let him disappear into obscurity, then keep him in the spotlight
  7. It was on't wireless recently 'bout him feeling let down by the board. His manner suggests he doesn't really give a toss and neither do the players. The last manager had similar problems. If he is to save his reputation (what's left of it)he should walk away then he's free to tell his side of things, and not be paid off to keep his trap shut.
  8. As mentioned on that City Forum- as he is paid as a footballer and he refused to play, then he is surely in breach of contract. Therefore don't pay him; let him make the legal running; Mansoor can afford to drag that on for years as a hobby, and let the frill-necked lizard bloat for years.
  9. Somewhere a little further.. If you're heading to the lakes call in at the Watermill at Ings on the main road from M6 to Windermere. just behind the petrol station. Stayed on the nearby campsite a few years ago and visited every night
  10. See Galgate is mentioned! Lived there 89-90. Decent place with 3 pubs. Living on the A6 not all it could be. Chippy rarely opened. Good Earth Leisure Spa (sadly closed before got there!) Frozen meat shop was adjacent to undertakers!
  11. Straight swap for Rodallega anyone? (If he's not gone already)
  12. You're right Smiffs- Mountfields are generally ok. However the cheapy in Screwfix has some crappy feckin chinese engine, and a flexible grass flap. Undoubtedly made for the market. Like I said- depends what you're using it for- a flat, decent quality lawn and you'll be ok. Watch the weight of the bastards too- ones at work weigh 49+kg- no good if you're doing something where you have to lift 'em on your own.
  13. Don't touch screwfix- bought one and returned it the next day- total shite made cheap by Mountfield for the 'spring' market. Depends upon what you need it for. Just bought a lightweight Masport- never heard of them before- but does the trick. Go to a proper shop- not B&Q etc; it's good to have back up service and expertise. Got mine from this chap, near by in Bury; looked after my Dad and the Mrs when they were employed as gardeners. My link Got my strimmer from All Seasons; they're on the little industrial estate adjacent to the railway bridge on Folds Road. OK but a couple on times disappointed with aspects of their service. Did me a decent deal though, and do get a number of recon mowers in.
  14. The fella is a total loon. Apparently him and his brother broke INTO a women's prison somewhere. Chap on t'radio recently recounting tales of his 'adventures'
  15. Knew I should have checked here first; switching between SSN and bloody text for the score updates! Tremendous win- seeing the players going ballistic on SSN- it really means something to them. Lets hope for this warm summer the press keep saying is coming!
  16. Uncanny that- just watched it (before reading your post) and thought; prior to getting facial features, that could be that goalkeeper that played for the Arse and England...
  17. My niece got a job in PM's place for a bit. He totally screwed her up and had her in tears. NOB. Chips R us here I come.
  18. Said a couple of matches ago- will play utd. in final. Davies will clatter Van Der Sar into to the net with the ball (his last match before retirement).Bolton's finest will be looking down with a beaming smile. Not sure it will be given though!
  19. The clip was boring. The other kids looked like they were doped up! Good luck to him though
  20. Always end up going at one that is not removable, for about a day. Remove half the nose lining and end up with some staphylococcus type infection.
  21. Decent player and good luck to him-will be supporting him. He is one boring sod though- could do with a few steak puds, few pints and a couple of dirty women occasionally. FWIW I think the lack of personality and problems with coaches is a reflection of his immaturity as a person and may be contributing to his inability to win a big one. Win this weekend and he might just crack it. Should he fail then I fear he'll be a Tartan Henman.
  22. Total gash. I took the lad, mate took his, and my brother took his wife and kids. Disgraceful. Problem starts up front. Poor movement, lack of technical ability from SKD, lack of aggression from Elmo, no concept of a partnership apart from gambling on Davies' flick ons. Petrov is poor, but there's nothing to link with. Drop the front two and give them a wake up call. Should have done this today though- unfair to do it against Wolves and expect Klasnic, Rodrigo etc to suddenly become world beaters. Our substitutions are predictable as is our overall play and no alternative. Credit to M Davies for having a go though over did it in second half. Robinson (and Holden when he came on) deserve credit for showing some desire.
  23. Al Habsi reckons Wigan need to concentrate on the league. several-0 to the Whites at half time. Matinez to withdraw 3 of only 5 regular 1st teamers. We do likewise then bang in several more. 7-0 Full time. Davies(Snr), Elmo, Klasnic (2), Davies(Jnr), Rodrigo and Holden.
  24. Might be better pics but....
  25. Truly fantastic event. Unforgettable. Frank Worthington was last man out of grounds as he was chatting and signing autographs to a few of us. Fortunately still had an old Wanderers -v- Sporting Lisbon ticket in a dark corner of my wallet and got him to sign it. What a gent and some good stories etc about Nat et al.
