Starting to dust myself down and roll with the go again attitude. Hopefully England deliver and I enjoy a little break.

Sorry but it's not going to happen with Southgate in charge

That’s gonna be proper gash that trip

Been thinking of doing it as a Chester weekend and just going in and out. I've got this feeling we're going to play them really early in the season and they'll do a right number on us

Probably end up being a Thursday night or something anyway

Hard to be arsed about it all at moment

Just googled that, it looks great

But would probably feel like I did when me and @radcliffe white walked into a student night in Portsmouth earlier in the season, well old and a bit dodgy 😂

Could tell the looks in the faces of the people serving behind the bar, looking at us like "really?" 😃

All this “we have a good enough squad” I think is a bit blinkered. We are ok but we aren’t the envy of teams some folk think. We’ve got 4 strikers who can’t score ffs

I'm with this. On the face of it we have a big squad and a lot of good players for the level but it's overstuffed in some areas, light in others and mentally soft.

Parallels with the early 1990s. After the Tranmere defeat at Wembley in May 91 we didn't pot Neal and 91/2 was a lame mid-table season. That's the horrible scenario in the back of my mind for  next season. I think Evatt will stay. Unless he addresses the lack of nous and leadership on the pitch and adds some pragmatism and physique I fear a 91/2 scenario.

More distant parallels? The late 70s, an age before the play offs. But we needed two near misses for promotion under Ian Greaves before clinching it in style in 77/8. The difference was the addition of experience in the shape of Frank Worthington and Alan Gowling.

Fully agreed. If I thought anything would change I agree it’s going in one direction with a tweak here and there.

Sadly nothing will change and I it could be a miserable old season.

Unfortunately Paul I think you may well be right.

I know it's natural to be gloomy after what's happened.

But the reality is the league has quite a few teams now who might have a bit more than we do. Think it'll be hard to get top 6 let alone top 2.

If IE stays he needs to have learned what's required in this league.

Fingers crossed.

Aye

Squad, starting XI and our approach needs changing

Not drastically

But such is IEs self belief that he's more likely to just go again with the same approach and if it doesn't work he won't know why or have any answers

But he's not walking and he's not getting sacked

If he stays he needs to take a leaf out of mousinhio book at Pompey, have different and flexible formations for different challenges each team throws at you…. Sticking with 3-5-2 for every eventuality is a fucking cop out by Evatt…. Do your job and chage formation and tactics as the situation demands.

Brum, Rotherham & Huddersfield will be strong (unlike last years relegated sides they haven’t any off field issues I think!)

then add likes of Barnsley, Peterborough, Charlton & Blackpool it becomes a tough league

Always the possibility Wrexham could throw even more cash about

He’s messed up

The closest he's been to flexible is who plays at LWB which in the past he's cited as being determined by who the opposition are
