However, it seems as if he was Ryan Lowe’s man at Bury and Plymouth. Schumacher inherited working with him, but he didn’t follow Schumacher to Stoke. Sure, he probably respects his work and put it a good word. But, I assume, he’ll work for Fergal, rather than Schumacher. Stoke had club legend Jon Walters as director of football / recruitment and he was ultimately the one who "shafted" Schumacher Quote

jmjhb Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 They signed Whittaker for 1M and sold him for 5M + addons Quote

jmjhb Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 Yeah, I think where Plymouth got it wrong recently was the managerial hiring, namely Ian Foster and Wayne Rooney Quote

Dr. Feelgood Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 (edited) I wish him well. But I genuinely don't understand football any more. Edited May 12, 2025 by Dr. Feelgood Quote

jmjhb Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 (edited) What's not to understand? One is a sporting director, the other more akin to a chief scout role Edited May 12, 2025 by jmjhb Quote
freds dad Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 We could do with recruiting a set piece specialist as we are shit at them. Quote

Blondi Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 The other Irish lad at Lincoln, Paudie O'Connor, he's supposed to be a decent central defender too, might be able to tempt him and he's free. Quote

I wouldn't imagine the bloke thinks he's anything of the sort, neither does SS, just a bloke he's worked with for a number of years, trusts and is good at what he does. He was with Lowe and SS from 2019 as Chief Analyst, then formally took up the Chief Scout role in July 2022. He will have been heavily involved in any of the deals bringing players in for the start of 2022/23, and no doubt his info informed the decision making on ones before that. Quote
