To be fair it was only the last 6 months when it went pear shaped, and we were only 90 minutes from the championship. Quote

NO it wasn't and we were NEVER going up under him, because the good teams we super rarely won against were the same teams we were facing in the play offs, it was never going to happen.ย Quote

Does it matter? We hadnโt gone up in five attempts under Evatt and things were going backwards. I donโt think anyone can seriously call for Schueys head yet, weโre still in a play off position for goodness sake and are still lumbered with half the dross Evatt recruited. Letโs give Schuey a chance and I still believe the season will be successful for us come May even if it has to be the play offs. Quote

Not sacking him after the playoffs failure was (with the benefit of hindsight) the point Sharon and the board went wrong, along with leaving it so late in Jan to do the inevitable. As long as we're in with a realistic shot at promotion SS is going nowhere. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 13 Posted January 13 We're not left with that many Evatt players that SS didn't want are we? Cogley was fairly regular, two centre halves are, as is Sheehan.ย He wouldn't play them if he didn't want to. ย Quote

Will have an impact on the budget. Quote

Not loads as was suggested.ย Both players have been given games, even if not regular.ย Again, if they weren't wanted, I'm sure he would have got rid, even if on loan. Randall keels getting game time too, and SS has publicly stated that he reckons he's a good player.ย Guess we'll see what happens this month, but I don't buy this line that SS is stuck with Evatt dross.ย The team is largely his, and he chooses who plays. Does that make all his signings dross too, as we don't seem significantly better off in terms of position, results etc. Edited January 13 by Tonge moor green jacket Quote

The rest of what's left from IEs time are either regulars or gone. Quote

I'm not yet in the get rid of SS camp, but we are showing similar traits to last season after he came. Big highs and big lows. Something isn't right, and he has to sort it, and soon. Quote

Not really saying that no. I think we should stop comparing to Evatt every time. Surely what we learnt from that was that changes can happen sooner.ย ย SS should have more time. But if by February this shite run of form & performances have continued, then changing manager could reignite the season. ย Many of the issues we see with SS arenโt because he hasnโt had enough transfer windows. Fwiw I think the board would still give him time next season if we finish outside the playoffs. Maybe thats the problem . I donโt think we as a club should be setting expectations that 9 points off automatic promotion at this stage is acceptable.ย ย Anyway, I hope the gaffer proves me wrong & turns things around, because I genuinely like the guy. Heโll have the fans behind him on Saturday regardless.ย Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 13 Posted January 13 By February? We're half way through Jan now, so that is around 2 weeks. Utterly pointless that. Either sooner, or not at all (or until promotion is effectively off the table). Quote

It's not as easy as just saying get rid and it's done. The majority of 'his' signings are loans, think the only fees we paid were for the two midfielders and Gale who to be fair has been better than I expected. Weren't able to get in defenders outside of a free from Scotland and couldn't move the ones we had on because they had recent extensions.ย Quote
