Underpants Posted February 15 Posted February 15 I good point and a good last 15. But on the whole it wasn't a comfortable game for us at all. But I would say the same for them too. Lincoln are there to be caught but we have to make sure we do our bit to do that. Quote

Good competition for places now, they are going to struggle if they don’t take their next opportunity. Schuey doesn’t seem to fuck about does he. Schumacher mentioned it in post match something along the lines of Gale needing width to be effective and this not being his kind of game. Could be diplomatically saying his attitude last week stank, mind 😀 Quote

It seems incredible compared to a month or 2 ago, but he's now ahead of Gale as stand in winger, maybe that's not difficult currently but a bit of credit too. In fact he'd arguably be ahead of Apter if playing a right footed winger on the right was allowed. Quote
Johnnyrotten Posted February 15 Posted February 15 1 hour ago, Jol_BWFC said: He’s right footed isn’t he? The issue he has is that he often beats his man on the outside, but then ends up on his left foot. So rather then a first time cross with his weaker foot, he cuts back inside so he can put in the cross with his right. Part of the problem with the inverted wingers. Absolutely, its infuriating to watch, so it must be annoying for the strikers too. The Postman wouldn't have been in the team at all with inverted wingers, I don't think I ever saw him use his left foot. Quote
barrycowdrill Posted February 15 Posted February 15 (edited) Be a refreshing change for a manager to pretty much say “I don’t give a flying fook which side you prefer to play on. Your right footed and that’s what side your playing on here” it became a bit of a hindrance with ACD the last month or 2. As he’d scored a couple of crackers coming inside, he wanted to do it every time and he became very predictable. the main job of winger has always been and always will be to supply the front men in my book. Not beat 2 men and assume that gives you the right to then shoot Edited February 15 by barrycowdrill Quote

No. Again yesterday caught on the ball and they should have scored from it. He is always prone to give away an easy 5 yard pass in the middle of the park, has to cut all this out. Quote
W.cramp Posted February 15 Posted February 15 The next couple of games, who are Kenny and Rodrigues coming in for ? Gonna be an interesting line up Tuesday and next saturday . Quote
barrycowdrill Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Unsure whether Rodrigues is ready to start yet but could imagine a 30 min appearance this time. Building him up definitely a conundrum when he is fit though as the obvious choice is McAtee. But you’d also want Kenny alongside / just off Dalby and not in place of Quote

Stuck with TSL and Burstow too long IMO when out of form. Burstow was still keeping Dalby out of the team till mid December. Same with Forss outstaying his welcome and arguably Randall. He's taken too long to get McAtee and Forino in the team too. Not saying they should start every game, but they've hardly started all season till injury forced his hand. Cumulative effect of all of the above might be a reason we haven't kept up with Lincoln. Quote

Can look ungainly, can look like he needs 5 touches to get the ball under control, it stands out in comparison to the instant control of Sheehan. On form, he drives the team forward and is the best tackler/most physical player we have by a mile. Passing can be superb, then poor, same as Tomo. Where they differ is EE has no interest in shooting or making those runs into the box, yesterday possibly his first assist? (I could be very wrong, just can't recall any). Also with his size etc its surprising he never wins a header from our corners, he's one of the most defensive minded midfielder I can recall, which has its benefits as well as drawbacks. Quote

Did Burstow not miss out because we'd got our quota of loan players in the squad. I think it's 5 & we had Apter, BT , Cissoko, Rodrigues & Kenny. Quote

The recent upturn in form and results, and the set up / personnel behind it, have been an example of managers stumbling upon the answer or having it forced upon them. Plenty of examples of it down the years though, at club and international level, SS far from the first, especially in the current age of managers being wedded to styles of play and formations. Quote

Incredible to think the entire front 4 that looked like they were guaranteed starters most week - ACD, Gale, Burstow, Forss not even on bench now (2 injured but only ACD would have been in the squad probably). Can add 3 more regular starters no longer in squad - TSL, JDC and Conway (presume that's temporary but no guarantee). And Simons was most fan's favourite midfielder, now we don't even discuss him as a likely starter. That's 8 regulars replaced. Quote
Gravel rash Posted February 15 Posted February 15 5 hours ago, Dimron said: I asked because the only hard core BWFC I have met in Lincoln (excluding the Crombies) was in the RAF Regiment and lived there about 20 years ago. Living in the area I keep an eye on Lincoln and go to some of the games but always feel like an outsider looking in. They have been steadily building up to this promotion push since losing to Blackpool in the Play Off Final in 2021. Skubala is in his third season and knows his best team whereas SS seems to be lagging in this respect and is too quick to rotate his players in my opinion. Lincoln players are very fit and determined and rarely slacken off whereas we still tend to have periods of pointless play, yesterday's stats indicate this. This was really bad under IE to the extent I stopped going to matches a long time before our Wembley downfall. Reading and Blackpool are just as critical in my view, at least 4 points needed, preferably 6 and keep the pressure on. PS... the younger Anna used to scare me but as we both matured we gained an "understanding" I thought Moylan looked good, Draper too and McCandless? he looked good for this level of football. Expected CBT to skin Diakwa all game but after a bright start he faded and Apter disappointingly never even got started. Some good performances in there too though. Quite impressed with Lincoln but not overly. A physical side but not whinging about it, I think if we could add some of that to our game we’d get a better chance to show our quality. Someone mentioned earlier that’s how Big Sam’s teams did it. An old school Lever Ender lives at Scampton near the old base, Ginge, Ginger or more correctly Kev Lawson. Scooter boy who organises huge charity rides across the country etc, good lad. He features in the Quadophenia film a few times 🙂 Quote

On the keepers, probably more of an error in recruitment than selection, we managed to get not one but 2 keepers that weren't upto it. Its a breath of fresh air to have a keeper that can save us, rather than cost us, points. Quote
marple whites Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Could have easily been 2 down when they hit the post. They were really front foot, aggressive and gave us no time and can see why they are where they are. but, last 20 we could have nicked it. said same all season, we need to play well for longer periods particularly against bigger teams. keeper outstanding, Kenny looked good when he came on. we have a good squad and are capable of winning 10 of our last games. Really need to win Tuesday tho….. Quote

A poor game shouldn’t mean sitting out the next. l can’t help thinking that the current crop of keepers would benefit from Gilks coaching. Quote

I can't see any overly negative stuff and the mix of opinions has given me a good summary of the game and was really useful. Seems we: didn't play particularly well for 60mins or so, Lincoln probably should have been ahead by more, we got back on top towards the end. My personal view just seeing the score updates at the time was "phew, we're still just about in it for autos, need to win on Tuesday" Quote

If we can tolerate the defeatists, we can tolerate someone pissed up who’s calling out the in-game screechers and still believes we’ve got a good chance of promotion 😊 Quote
