McAtee just expected the lad to jump in to an aerial duel. Lad decided not to bother.

Yeah but McAtee isn't going for an aerial duel. He's just randomly jumped into an opponent and the ball's about 10 feet away from him. You can't just hit someone off the ball and not expect a red.

I've been calling for him to be in the team, but that's a red card all day long.

Haha.

I did suggest it some time ago too.

He won't be a regular though.

Until we sign a better option at left back he's not going to a regular in midfield.

Seems he's had a ticking off from SS.

Still not a red card , he bumped the lad , nothing more . Games gone . i refer you all to the SKD tackle at Munched in the first few seconds .

From watching the clip it looks an orange card. Had he only been booked then Plymouth wouldn't have much of an argument but seeing a red is fair enough.

It’s not about the actual impact IMO - Forino took one just as bad late in the second half and ref had no interest in thinking about a card - it was the pure stupidity of never once making it look like a normal challenge for the ball where he’s using his body to make it difficult and has accidentally caught the defender.

The ball goes in the air, he turns, looks backwards, runs backwards in the direction of the defender and jumps backwards into him. @Stig has said it but he ended up a few yards away from where the ball actually landed because he was more interested in the defender and never looked back at the ball. It’s a ‘professional foul’ in the sense that he was never actually challenging for the ball - the fact he caught the lad in the face probably turned it from a free kick / yellow card into a red.

Hats off to each and everyone that went today - you deserved that.

we had a few players not on it today - gale, mcatee just don’t work hard enough and Conway was poor

second half dalby and Barstow were excellent.  Thought tutu had a great game and the defenders were resolute.

sheehan superb and Kenny worked tirelessly

i think that’s Plymouth and Wycombe out of it today.

just don’t lose to Stockport now………..

I cant argue with that at all apart from , I dont think he really caught him .

There was a similar instance earlier on when one of theirs "wafted" at one of ours (Im gonna have to see it again) It wasnt a hand off but a flick to the face . neither which were red cards , but letter of the law ?

When I think back to the famous hard men Bolton teams it just seems silly in comparison .

It's where he (Conway) will end up mid-career onwards.

Yep, agree as well. No doubt it’s in the ‘soft’ pile, when you actually look at what happened. He’s still a tit though

Absolutely , his ridiculous habit of never jumping for the ball but at the man is what has brought it on . Glad Schuey addressed it in his post match interview.

He’s a liability… thick as pig shit…. He’s been a massive disappointment to me.

Don't like slagging our players, but fuck me I'm done with McAtee.

In 40 minutes he managed to give away 2 free kicks in dangerous positions, fluff the one half-decent break he had, and get sent off.

Fucking brain dead that mon.

Hope to fuck that's the last we see of him and some daft fuckers give us a few bob to take him off our hands.

Yes a terrible "attempt" to win the ball/back into his man.  The worst header of a ball I can recall if challenged by a defender.

But the first sending off since he came, and IMO a mistake by the ref - so not really a sending off, and without checking I don't think he gets booked much does he?

Presume you were also "done with him" when he created the winner at Wimbledon and scored v Barnsley.

And since day one, literally his debut, I've criticised his coming back to "defend" and giving free kicks away because he's clumsy in the tackle.  He should be up front as a striker or a 10, nowhere near our box.  That's on SS, too many forwards asked to do a job they can't do.  Kenny's no better in that regard.

Careful what you wish for because we don't have anyone any better, we're weakened by his suspension.
