Yes a terrible "attempt" to win the ball/back into his man.  The worst header of a ball I can recall if challenged by a defender.

But the first sending off since he came, and IMO a mistake by the ref - so not really a sending off, and without checking I don't think he gets booked much does he?

Presume you were also "done with him" when he created the winner at Wimbledon and scored v Barnsley.

And since day one, literally his debut, I've criticised his coming back to "defend" and giving free kicks away because he's clumsy in the tackle.  He should be up front as a striker or a 10, nowhere near our box.  That's on SS, too many forwards asked to do a job they can't do.  Kenny's no better in that regard.

Careful what you wish for because we don't have anyone any better, we're weakened by his suspension.

Spent the best part of 2 years hoping he'll come good. Shocking waste of money, be glad to see the back of him.

(for the record, if he scores the winner in the play off final I always said he was a good un)

Couldn’t disagree more - he’s wank and we have plenty more options that I’d see ahead of him up front or wherever the fuck he was meant to be playing today.

Poor team selection but kudos to Schumacher for changing it at HT….. also it’s quite clear now 3 at back is the way to go…. Take note SS.

Perhaps not initially but in the end the best away performance since Wigan, when we were....3 at the back

we went to a back 3 then back to a back 4.

It's a good day for everyone to claim their preferred system worked. :)

Is it not a bingo machine doesn't know his best team etc when we win? :)

They moved to a "back 4" late on when they decided to see the game out and hold on. He says back 4 but it was more like a back 6 or 7. What won us the game was a back 3 with wing backs.

Mr SS. Hope you noticed, long ball works, and is very effective!

Unless its Port Vale away.

for "is very effective" read "might be effective", depends what happens at the end of it, same as other tactics.

Give over, you couldn’t see a more nailed on red. It was just stupid of Macca but not unusual. Hopefully that now means he’s gone.

Blimey whites, that's reactionary even for you.

Not a red, you're acting as if he assaulted him.  And if its not unusual, when was his last red? (I genuinely don't know so I'm open to being corrected).

At least he can be replaced by the plethora of goalscoring and creative strikers/no.10's we have.

Either way, whatever system we play, at any point of the remaining games, needs to include Forino.

Playing for grimsby in 2021 I think.

He’s a liability… thick as pig shit…. He’s been a massive disappointment to me.

We’ve had our fair share of those over the last 5/6 years. Should bring in a basic IQ test when we’re signing new players.

Never a straight red. Even a questionable yellow.

That angle makes it look like nothing.

Look at the one above - his elbow is in the guy’s face and look where the ball is (red circle). It’s inexplicably stupid. He’s jumped into and taken the player out with his arm (how much force can be questioned) before the ball is even close to being in a position to challenge for it.

What SS has said about it and his own reaction tell you that neither of them think it was harsh decision. It’s all on him this one.

Fantastic character second half*. Great to see. Tremendous following. What a day. Post match fantastic with some of the elite 👏 🍻

*can pick half a dozen occurrences where it would have made the difference on another day, but that’s for another time

We needed a minor miracle and we got it. Plymouth in the 2nd half looking very much like we have done in the past, all the ball, hugely wasteful in front of goal, two defensive lapses (that handball was comical), losing to a team with two shots on target...

And I dont care 😁 Hope everyone down there has a cracking night celebrating, sounded a great away end to be in. Massive 3 points.

Yes its fantastic to get a win we didn't "deserve" (in terms of possession etc).   Do the 2 shots on target include the 2 goals?  So actually none from open play (can we count pens as a shot on target?!).

It just shows as well how some things are out of our control - Reading, Rotherham and Port Vale both had very similar chances to the one Plymouth had early in the game, in that inside right position, and they buried their chances, the Plymouth guy gave Bonham a chance to save it and he did that well.  On another day, we're a goal behind and its a different game.  Or the others don't score and we go onto win those games.  Its not always about how well we play, its just that things go for you one day and not another.

Incredible result. It is not often you see your team do something like that and what a tone-setter for the remainder of the season. It is also the type of performance that bodes well for the drama of the play offs.

Agree with everything everybody is saying and there is a little historical thing to add. We talk a lot about places at which we perennially struggle - Blackpool and Rotherham always featuring. But since a win at Home Park in 1976 every time we have played there we have lost. What a dramatic way to end that little jinx.

Onwards and upwards. Sick and tired of hearing Stockport fans blethering on about how they have never lost at Bolton since the move from Burnden. Hope we right that wrong on Monday. Suspect we need one or two of those absent today to return and help the cause.

It was a bit drastic of them to go into non league for a few years to keep that record going 😀

Agreed we could do with beating them, but I wouldn't be gutted with a draw as 4 points from these 2 games is more than we expected.

Them sort of fouls are for players who simply cannot jump or head the ball. I have not seen either from McAtee. How he has got as far as he has is a credit to himself yet a stain on scouts at a number of clubs

He  needs urgent coaching to at least keep his hands by his sides when he attempts the same.

It, buts and maybes…….but if only we’d have shown the commitment from that second half in the 2 previous games the autos may still have been on. It’s the hope that kills you.

We were just as committed v Doncaster, Rotherham and Port Vale.

They didn't handle the ball for no reason in the box and 2 of them took their 1st half chances.

And we were able to play on the break today instead of against a 10 man defence, it makes a big difference.

No difference in commitment or effort, they were busting a gut at Vale, but hamstrung by SS's tactics.

quote from a Plymouth forum:

Bolton look like a side who have 4 or 5 Championship ready players particularly at the back and they just had that bit of quality to get a foot or head in where normally chances would open up. Also probably best keeper we’ve seen in the league. Like Lincoln and Cardiff they look ready to go up.

4 or 5?  I can think of 2 (Conway and Sheehan).  And both had very underwhelming games today so they probably aren't referring to them.

I have no knowledge of the standard of other L1 keepers to know if Bonham is one of the better one's, can't recall many having a great game against us but may have forgotten some.

Seemed to work!

Conway in midfield too- who'd have thought.

He looked like a fish out of water to me.  Uncomfortable, need him at left back or LWB.
