Alf Hartigan Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Just got back from game. Top performance. Looked twice the team we have done recently. Holden absolutely bossed it. We played 4-5-1. N'Gog on his own up front. Looked solid. Same line-up for Saturday, but Petrov in for Kakuta and I'd like to see NRC, Holden and M.Davies in centre. That's pretty much what I'd go with. Not heard anyone else say Holden bossed the game though, and would leave Muamba in for Saturday. You went though and I didn't, so fair play.
Walkden26 Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 He needs match fitness and the Villa match can help provide this in a way which endless reserves matches cannot really do. But he will not take up where he left off, I suspect, and will take time to get there. He looked like he was never out!!! Fantastic tonight!!!

only1swanny Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 has knight been dropped due to his Hamstring from tother day ?
Alf Hartigan Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Holden did run the game tonight!!! if that's the case, then I'm even more pleased about tonights game.
whiteyboy Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Just got back, was defo worth the hassle of getting there through rush hour. Holden superb, back four solid, ngog lively.... But for me Ricardo Gardner take a bow. Full back masterclass tonight. Read everything. Based on his performance deserves to start on Saturday. What a true pro and bwfc legend

Athywhite_Mike Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 We were excellent last night. We've missed Holden, a lot. I also thought Ricky G and Pratley were superb Same team for Arsenal please Owen
superjohnmcginlay Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 cheers Zico saw em last neet but one of the lads at work hasnt seen em'
enzo gambaro Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 just seen the goals now, did you notice for the second goal how easily dunne barged davies out of the way?? Never really know when you're taking the piss or when you're just talking out of your arse. Anyway, if Dunne hadn't been so keen to knock Davies over he could have just headed the ball away and Kakuta wouldn't have had a sniff. That sort of thing can happen if you get players round Davies. Granted, he struggles a bit when there isn't another white shirt within forty yards.
birch-chorley Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Went last night and I thought it was a great performance, well worth ?10. 4-5-1 Worked well and Holden sat pretty deep sniffing out all the trouble and never put a pass out of place, world class that lad. Eagles played well again on the back of a good 45 minutes against Norwich. Ricky G did ok IMO but there where a couple of times that he got caught out, not sure who would be the lesser of two evils at Arsenal on Saturday Robbo or him. Good following from bwfc, Nocking on a thousand IMO. PNE away next please.
mickbrown Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Muamba has the energy and physicality that lets people like Holden play. Wheater defends. Simple game really this football lark. So expect Knight and Reo-Coker to be back in the side come Saturday.

I still reckon he's our best option as a holding midfielder, so that Superman Holden can push forward.

Great away game, team played well, kept Villa fans quiet all the match, good to see a win and some great support from Bolton fans. Let's hope we repeat it in the league !!
Guest Blixa Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 good call! i reckon you got better odds for 2-0 tonight than you will for 0-7 at the weekend Sadly, the first scorer prediction was out, so no payout. I'll eat more cheese at night for the next game.
wovlad Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Villa's first shot on goal was in the 87th minute. Given the team we put out compared to there team got to be happy with that.

Didledee Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Eagles shooting technique for the goal was class, full power swing!
HomerJay Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Eagles shooting technique for the goal was class, full power swing! is that a fully qualified, uefa coaching phrase??
frank_spencer Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I know we're short in funds but when did we sign thing from The Adams Family?
Didledee Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I know we're short in funds but when did we sign thing from The Adams Family? That's great!
tarian1979 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 How did the much-maligned Muamba play? I still reckon he's our best option as a holding midfielder, so that Superman Holden can push forward. in a 4 5 1, especially away from home, id play muamba. just sit in front of the back four, break up play, dont get involved in going forward and trying to do anything with the ball. Holden with him and one other. 4 4 2, if we play that at home to the lesser teams im not sure id play him, be more inclined to play reo coker and holden if playing 4 4 2. Again though id play 4 5 1 against the big teams, ie chelsea next up. Gardner and wheater in at the back. The issue is who he plays up top, cant see him dropping davies (for league games)
